For those that don't know it the rides are filmed on a bicycle and your effort will get you either goin faster or slower than the original speed. Though you can't go more than twice as fast as the original ride.
Yesterday I went pretty all out on two segments to do them at double the original speed. Absolutely obliterated in the standings because another ride on the same course by a faster rider let everyone else go faster.
Today my first ride was pretty flattish and I was easily faster than the original rider on the flat and downhill segments. Anything over 4% though and he absolutely destroyed me. As in I was pushing 500W+ up a 16% segment and doing 60% of his speed.
After much wondering I finally caught a glimpse of his shadow in the filmed screen. And he was on a fatbike with half an electronics shop on the handlebars. Mate, if you're going to film a ride on an overpowered e-bike at least turn the assistance down slightly, or let us know in the ride description.
The second ride today I did 250W for a 13 minute segment to come 506th overall. Turns out it was shared with an old Rouvy ride and the KOM is held at 650W. Ok matey.

L5/S1 micro discectomy sorted that. Gives me sciatica so I don't.
Probably good for bone density but joints not so much I expect.

For the first time, customers located in Australia and Canada will also have access to Zwift virtual shifting. The Wahoo Kickr Core Zwift One will be available in late March via wahoofitness.com.

That article gave me a headache, I had to read it about four times to work out what was actually going on.jasonc wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 9:03 amhttps://www.cyclingnews.com/news/wahoo- ... zwift-one/

From what I understand you'll now be able to have a 'Zwift cog and click' on a Wahoo Kickr, which is a single ring 'cassette' and a bluetooth controller to change gears with it. But you'll only ever be able to use it on Zwift, and you can't buy a normal Kickr and upgrade to this later.
Seems unnecessarily restrictive, to be honest. The idea is solid, but the use case scenario extremely narrow and for no particular reason that I can see.

This is a a really nice solution because it takes away some of the nonsense of setting up real bikes to work on trainers, sometimes they never work quite smoothly.Mr Purple wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 9:17 amThat article gave me a headache, I had to read it about four times to work out what was actually going on.jasonc wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 9:03 amhttps://www.cyclingnews.com/news/wahoo- ... zwift-one/

When you jump over to a Kickr Bike you side step all of that completely and have a very silent and smooth running trainer bike with no messy chains or gears and you can configure any gearing system or combination you want.
The Zwift One isn't quite that good, but it's a good half way measure for those who use only Zwift. Naturally Zwift wants to keep everyone in their world.

However why is is not available as an aftermarket option for existing Wahoo Kickr owners? Surely it's not that hard to design a product that bolts onto the trainer just as the cassette does? And why is it only limited to Zwift?
It's not the product I have an issue with, it's the fact they seem to have deliberately limited its application.

zwift won't even give me a wahoo gear indicator on screen for my kickr bike....Mr Purple wrote: ↑Thu Feb 08, 2024 12:58 pmYeah, I agree. And it gets rid of the requirement to have functional derailleurs on your trainer bike which has a big appeal to me as someone who's regularly snapping shifter cables.

Once done you get a level 100 kit, a big XP bonus and I believe 100,000 drops (wasn’t watching those).
From there you cannot get any more levels even though the indicator on the pause screen suggests (xxxx until next reward)

It's getting awfully noisy, and there was a smoky smell after a virtual KOM today. Not surprising really, it's up around 20,000km now.
Might explain the power decrease recently as well, which seems to be limited to indoor only. I was blaming the heat but if there's a bit of belt slip it might explain it as well. Will start saving for a smart bike I think!
