MAIN TRUNK TRAIL AT STROMLO CLOSED FOR CLEANUP
All users of the main trunk trail at Stromlo Forest Park are advised that sections of this trail are closed
until further notice. Pieces of potential asbestos containing material (ACM) have been found on two
sections of the track.
Immediate clean-up and thorough rehabilitation activities have been initiated in accordance with
established ACT Government protocols. The section of the main trunk trail between ‘Red Rock’ and
‘Tall Trees’ has been closed and signage installed warning trail users that the track is closed.
Diversion arrows directing people to the ‘Luge’ have been installed. These locations can be found on
the website map at
http://www.stromloforestpark.com.au/map ... es_000.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This effectively closes off the whole top section of the main trail. Para webbing is also being installed
on the top of the trail where the trail comes close to the Mount Stromlo Road. A blackboard sign has
been installed at the bottom of the trail head near the main car park so that users will be notified of the
closure at the beginning of their ride.
The track will not re-open until it has been professionally certified as being clear of any potential ACM.
This will be done as a priority.
Users of the main trunk trail at Stromlo Forest Park are warned not to ignore signs or disregard the
closure of the track.
There is no evidence that other sections of Stromlo Forest Park have been affected and these areas
remain open to the public.
