I just purchased the Fouriers (forged model br-s005) to replace a set of the 2015 brakes due to the 25c clearance issue. $258.00 delivered from their website.
To be honest, I didnt have too many issues with the stopping power of the Giant brakes. That is until I fit the Fouriers. They have a much better initial bite and feel, particularly the rear where I noticed a huge difference in stopping power without it feeling grabby. It really is night and day.
I haven't had the chance to test them out on a decent ride, or on a climb (which is the only place I noticed any minor rubbing on the giant brakes) but initial impressions are very positive.

Where did you buy from? And how long did it take for the parts to arrive?

I purchased from the Fouriers website through their cycling-e space or something like that. The link is on the contacts page. It took about 10 days to receive the parts.

If the forged is cheaper to make and better, why do they bother with the cnc'd version?

I wouldn't necessarily say that the forged is "better", the forged would be stronger due to the denser material and Fouriers assured me that in their testing performed exactly the same as the more expensive CNC'd version. However they also stated some riders preferred the feel of the CNC'd version, albeit just and there wasn't anything to support this from a testing standpoint.
I'm no racer so the forged sounded fine for almost half the price and after receiving them I'm more than happy.
I honestly think they persist with the CNC version because the Giant Alpicin team use them. I got the impression they are very proud of this, he would have repeated it 3 or 4 times in as many emails . He also said the CNC looked better but hey, you don't wear a suit to a BBQ.

Seems like the Forged (cheaper) version is the way to go then? Just picked up a 2015 Propel last week and I'm missing the stopping power of DA9000.

I'd wait and see how the 2015 stock brakes work.Drizt wrote:Hmmmmm I still haven't received my 2015 propel. Should I just bite the bullet and buy the fouriers straight away?

So it's now $161AUD for the forged and $303AUD for the CNC'd, excluding delivery!
Sounds like a pretty good upgrade now, I've got the 2015 Propel brakes and I'm still wishing for a bit more stopping power!

The 2015 brakes are a massive improvement. In saying that I'm yet to try out the fouriers.

Either or are going to work well. I think from memory the blue sits above the green pads, but it'd be like splitting hairs!
