I'm not sure terribly accurately. That design of rim sticker was in use in the early 90's. The rest seems consistent with that too.Imwit wrote: ↑Fri Jan 19, 2024 11:35 pmI like how he can date it from the wheels!???P!N20 wrote: 753 Plum Vainqueur: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/chelten ... 1321100067
Of course the bike I built up for my wife in the early nineties had 1978 hubs (date code) and a 1982 seatpost so it could be anything.
Cheers,

Plenty of TLC required but at $80 it would be well worth the effort.LG wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 9:20 pmIf in Vic, this would be worth purchasing for the parts https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/26662917389 ... Sw5NFlri05
I spotted a Cadex CFR3 on facebook last week in Brisbane for $100, nothing unusual there except it was one of the few to have full Campagnolo running gear (Stratos I think?) I pounced, but the seller claimed to have been offered $190 and now wanted $200 which I passed on. Both the original listing at $100 and an identical post under a different name at $200 are still up so I don't know if he's actually sold it or not.

Come on, we don't call Bendigo Melbourne up here. Lets not call Newcastle Sydney either .feelthewheel wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 8:39 amDick Tressider in Sydney (reasonable price too):

Dick Tressider was from Newcastle too BTW. So maybe one of his bikes might command a better price up here. Agree that the photos are crap though.

Erm, no... Sydney is better described as South Newcastle really , or may be Lower Gosford...Gordon1 wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 3:00 pmuart wrote: ↑Thu Feb 01, 2024 2:34 pmCome on, we don't call Bendigo Melbourne up here. I have a Dick Tresidder bicycle that was custom built for the previous owner. He wasn't sure who actually built the frame but it was a local builder. Probably not Dick but maybe Mr Stead? It was assembled by Dick however circa 1970 with early SunTour and Cinelli parts.
Anyhow, under all that lairy paint, stickers and cheap parts the frame on this bike looks earlier and quite nice, maybe from the late 50's - 60's? As already said Dan didn't do a good job on the photos with this one .
Might be a 'shop' frame built locally for someone or maybe a buy in from a bigger manufacturer's workshop for general sale (like the guy in Broadmeadow used to do). Whatever, it looks like it is well worth rescuing if it is your size.
However, IIRC Dick was not keen on putting his name on resprays unlike some other bike shops so that is a minus point given the obvious respray paint.
If I get a chance I might nip down to 'the big city' and have a chat with Dan about it - 60 cm is just on my size limit

What's the deal with the 26 inch wheels on that bike Richard. Are they the wrong wheel size for what that bike originally would have had?

Well looking at the pictures I reckon there seems sufficient space for a 27x 1 1/4 wheel to fit? I think the 26" ( x1 3/8" ?) were added with all the other mixed bits at re-paint time (Including the badly fitted cottered cranks as spotted by DarrylH ). IMHO not a lot, if any, of the components are what was originally on the frame.
I've not yet seen an Australian bike set up for the British 26x1 1/4" size but I'm happy to be corrected.
