I did cote d'pyke on zwift this morning. That was nasty. Lots of 17%
Only short but steep. I tried it the other day just to see what all the folk were talking about with their XP farming. Couldn't imagine doing that over and over.

Do 25x portal laps and you'll get a badge along with a nice XP bonus.

Otherwise, want to level up really fast - do PRL Full in London. ;)

I'm avoiding PRL full, it's just miserable. I think it's the most difficult route in Zwift.

Someone I know is doing a triple vEverest soon - 25,600m+ in a single ride. I'm never going to do that.

ADZ again, today easier pace at 49:17.

Steady pace and keep cadence up aside from bit at the end where I wasn’t going to let some guy get past me.

Since it is raining today quite badly there is no point to go outside and ride,

I did a Zwift Academy 2018 workout, one of the high intensity ones for about 70min. Got through it okay but definitely hard work.

I foolishly decided to go on a particularly hilly gravel ride today.

In my defence it didn't rain anywhere except on the steepest, rockiest bits where I was furthest from home. And it was pouring. Didn't die. Always a win.

Another Zwift academy workout, I put the FTP % up to 105 and managed to hang on but the 5 minute flat out section at the end was hard with a lot of fatigue.

Managed to get higher 5 minute power than I've had since the accident. That's good, hope I can keep that going.

1.5h of a Zwift Academy 2023 workout today. I’m feeling pretty sore after that.

It looks like I’m making power gains. Again today I had the bias at 105%.

I did a lap of ADZ with some crazy people doing vEverest attempts (or even 2x or 3x vEverest).

I was with a couple of racers sitting on 4.0w/kg up there and noticed my heart rate was quite a lot lower than before for same power. Maybe the training is working.

Slow start at 2.5w/kg for first two sectors them picked up pace for a 48:52 lap.

ADZ again today (over 140 of them now) at 46:05.

I'm now quite sore. But it was a decent lap. :)

105km yesterday and 112km today.

TrainingPeaks reckons my 5 second power got to 519w which it reckons is a PR post 2022. It’s not very high but given what happened back then at least things are going in the right direction.

So my seated climbing filming for Fulgaz has paid off. Not in actually going fast by climbing seated, but because they've offered a free entry for the Tour de Brisbane as thanks.

110km/1277m. Should be interesting! Unfortunately it's the weekend after I come home after two weeks in Japan so I will probably be as heavy and unfit as I have been in years. It'll wake me up at least...

Thanks! Looking at last year's times it'll depend on what sort of group I end up in but will be nice to crack 3 hours (36.7km/hr).

Whether that's achievable or not will come down to what group I end up in, and how many gyoza I have while on holidays in Japan. It's pretty flat and I've achieved close to that speed on similar terrain solo but I'll definitely need a tow from a group for that distance.

Fortunately there's a bunch of names I recognise from Strava segments around that sort of time in last year's results. Hopefully they don't work out who I am and how many KOMs I've stolen from them until the race is over.

Yes they will after the ride is over and they upload the ride to Strava :)

Yep. There's a few names in there I really don't want to be making eye contact with. Well it was their fault for holding all the KOMs in my neighbourhood in the first place!

The only other race I've done was the 161km BVRT E2E. I'd taken a bunch of the KOMs in my initial upload because I was with Telstra and the really fast guys were with Optus and had no reception. They lasted until everyone got back in mobile range.

Had an epic ride today after upgrading the crankset to DuraAce (the old Ultegra had 20,000km on it and wasn't looking too great).

Image

I'll be off looking for my pro contract now. Alternatively I'll actually remember to recalibrate the power meter after changing the crankset, and deleting all records of this ride from my various training apps.

I did a virtual Col de Sarenne on Fulgaz today - 253w average, heart rate average 168bpm.

Sure was a lot easier than last year IRL in the stinking heat with a lot of kms and elevation in my legs already.

Image

You have a nice little run through a village then a very quick little descent. You absolutely bomb down that descent because when it straightens out you see ahead of you a 13.5% wall. It flattens a little bit after that but not by too much and the road surface is rough as heck. When you get higher up the tree cover disappears and you get roasted in the sun, there is no shade at all.

17 weeks in a row of 300km or more. All bar one week have been over 1% elevation. So have been on this run since the 4th of December I think it is
