Reliable pressure gauge

I hope this is the right forum. Apologies if not.

My wife and I are on the train from Ballarat. Her tube was flat this morning. We've done a repair. I tried a BBB pressure gauge I bought a while back, but to fit it on the Schrader valve had to unscrew an adaptor for Prestas. We're not confident the reading was right.

I screwed the adaptor back on and checked my tubeless tyres with Prestas. Got a reading 0 no matter what I did. I'll have to pump a bit when we get to Southern Cross because I reckon I've lost quite a lot trying to get the thing to work. The weird thing is I used it a few days ago and had problem at all, but at that time I hadn't used it on Schraders before. The main body is made of soft plastic and I think I might have stripped the thread.

Can anyone recommend a reliable pressure gauge please? Preferably one without a Versace price tag.

I have a trio of them, the original one is 14+ years old and still works perfectly. Runs on coin battery that lasts at least 2.5 years, more like 3 years.

Digital readout in PSI / BAR or kg/cm2, rotating head, presta or schrader inflation with just a flip of a lever (no adapters), a bleed button with updating read out and it turns off automatically after sitting idle for XX seconds.

I swear by mine, and all three units read exactly the same as each other ie) no variation across my sample of 3 units tested back to back.

I bought a D2X and not sure how I feel about it. It's really hard to read in any kind of sunlight (i.e. where I'd like to take my bike) and maybe I'm still learning the functions, but is it supposed to bleed pressure the moment I hit the Tune button? I thought it was only supposed to do that when I'm pressing the button that's supposed to release the pressure?

D2x has an LED display, the older D2 model has LCD = easier to read in daylight.

Yes +1 for the Topeak D2. I've got a couple of these (workshop/campervan) and both have given me good service over several years. Easy to use and consistent. Sounds like the new version is a bit of a downgrade?

Well, I view this as a workshop tool really, I don't carry it around on rides, so the (apparently) reduced visibility would not be a problem.

Actually, some of the LCDs are fading a bit on my oldest D2 so sometime soon I'm going to have to buy a new one. It is quite old, probably well over 10 years or so.

I like the Fumpa pressure gauge. Nice and slim. The numbers I find are easier to read than the Topeak LCD but as it's fixed head, it can be harder to get line of sight to it. Also, not as easy to swap between Presta and Schrader valves.
