Reactionary government carries out promised reactionary policy.
Duncan Gay would be proud. Well, not quite. There’s no actual ripping up of tramlines or cycle paths.

According to the chart "For or against cycleway investment" still a big number disagree or strongly disagree that more money should be spent on bicycle lanes. It's evenly split for and against.'
As the graph below shows, New Zealanders are evenly split on their support for cycleways: 39% would like more bike lanes, while 39% do not want them. Among those opposed to more bike lanes, however, most are strongly (rather than somewhat) opposed.
It's all a culture war anyway.
