Have had to log in again 3 times today via Chrome desktop. Chrome says connection is secure, certificate is valid, 3rd party cookies blocked.

Logging in via Edge desktop says connection is secure.

Have to log in each and every time I visit via Chrome on Android 13, even if navigating away via a page link, the forums require me to re-login. This interface says connection is not secure. Login is easy on phone as it's a saved password for now and a one-tap process.

Whatever this means?
My android tablet will stay logged in. My android 13 phone nup. Needs a log in everytime on duckduckgo and chrome.

As per below. I just replied and now this post isn't the most recent, so I can edit it.

Can't edit on the Android13 until another post has popped up after the one I want to edit.
The remember me check box doesn't work for log in either.

The forum is a bit of a muddle when viewed on any Android device. I have the latest Android OS, but still the forum is something I avoid and leave to the relatively easy and straightforward PC-based interaction.

Not sure what generation of Android my phone is on, but aside from one failure to auto-login yesterday it's been fine. Chrome on the phone is ad-saturated, which ticks me off a lot because they're frequently dropped in the middle of members' posts, but Firefox on desk/laptop is a heap better (Windoze OS platforms on those machines). I can see members' avatars on all systems, so maybe there's an bug with certain devices that's stopping them for some people.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Still the same for my iPhone 15 Pro on iOS 17.3.1 with Safari, in portrait mode the edit post button does nothing.

If you rotate to landscape it does work. Very annoying bug making it very slow to use this forum on mobile.

Having similar issues on my laptop - have to log in semi-regularly; Chrome browser. No such problems on my iPhone; Safari browser.

Android 14 on the phone now.
Forum won't remember me and requires a log on every time.
Every other forum I am on is fine. Only this one, since the advertising was installed

Maybe that's something.

Having to log in every time now on desktop Chrome (2 locations, PC and laptop). Chrome now saying website is 'Not secure'.

Hard to tell what Edge is doing, running tests now.
EDIT: same on Edge now.

The autosave/auto login is helpful though, makes getting back in a one-step process.

Firefox on laptop is still fine for me.

"Cram" on the Android phone made me log back in once last night, but is mostly fine aside from getting bombed with ads, which Firefox doesn't get.

Are you using the link: https://www.bicycles.net.au/forums

Or going to https://www.bicycles.net.au/ and then navigating to the forums? That avoids the not secure issue for me.

I avoid going to the main website as it has nothing that interests me.

Just tried this on android.

Came in via https://www.bicycles.net.au/forums
Logged in, left the page, closed tab.
Came in again same way. Had to log in.

Came in via https://www.bicycles.net.au/ then to forums.
Logged in, left page, closed tab.
Came in via main page and forums link, had stayed logged in.

Weird. Maybe it's just me. It's hit and miss whether it says secure or not secure. Same browser, same machine can say both things.

I am using duckduckgo on both android tablet and phone. Tablet has no issues. Stays logged in.
Phone nup, never, won't "remember me" even though the box is checked each time.
Username and password required everytime. Peculiar to this forum only and only since the advertising was added.
I am an IT numpty so no clue why.

Many browsers delete site cookies when you close the browser or the page; others (through browser settings) use "persistence cookies" (aka "Remember Me" checkbox) to keep cookies until you actually go after them with your pump! Global and individual site security settings can also affect how a site remembers or seemingly forgets about you, even if you check the "Remember me" box. I am using only Opera on my Sammy the Samsung A12 phone and the shiny, sparkly, silver HP laptop. As my browser is set to delete all cookies on closing (quitting), checking the "Remember me" button has no effect. Too many inconsistent, incremental, compartmentalised updates to Firefox turned me off some time ago.

My job in Castlemaine was in IT for 8 years, loooong before Bluetooth and wifi (and fast 'puters!) and all the mod-cons we take for granted today!

Oh well it is what it is. As I say, only forum of the 5 I regularly use, that does it.
Just wont bother visiting on my phone.

I have several forums too; some pepper me with unwanted and inappropriate advertising. Others take an inordinate amount of time, others still are frequently 'down and out'.

In fairness, there are a surprisingly many and varied shortcomings and impracticalities present on the BNA forum, which shares a similar (if not identical?) codec architecture to, for example, bushwalking.com, but with none of the foibles and constraints and backend flip-flops about posting images, URLs, avatars and whatnot.

My phone for the desk top view is a pain in the arse too look. I have to zoom in for the print and then of course, it goes past the screen sides.

Phone tends to stay logged in but it was yesterday or Tuesday that I need to login again and it was the same for the pooter. :?

Thanks for the updates… edit button on mobile still in the todo as I was trying to (but not yet successfully) improve the advertising.

Logons have not been an issue but server changes on the updated impacted identification and I will try to adjust.

Thanks again Commander Biggles, not sure if the complexities are really understood…. If I turn on avatar uploads for example and then 1 week later the are gone… and not recoverable, this won’t make anyone happier. Believe me, I have looked for that button “fix everything” but don’t think it exists.
