2023 10,000 km+ club

Postby warthog1 » Tue Jan 03, 2023 4:24 pm

Will try for 15k this year.
Taking more hols in LSL at half pay so should have more time. We'll see.
Hopefully it is a better year weather wise.
Less rain would be good.

151km and 1607m of up.

I’ll just go for 10,000km.

So far I’m at 123km with 3032m+. This is mostly Fulgaz and Zwift.

I've revised my goals for this year so I don't go completely crazy.

10,000km, 10% not on tarmac, and to take at least one completely inappropriate mountain bike KOM on a gravel bike.

Generally also to have more fun.

I am trying for 10001km and 150000m climbing. Strava says I am 10km ahead.

UPDATE
For various reasons I am out. Back to the under 10k club

I’m back again but without the invisible dangling carrot of 15,000 km. The yearly total will be healthy but it will be whatever it is. Happy with anything over 13,000 km.

125 km so far.

There's one around the corner from me averaging 6.9% and currently only 16km/hr. I reckon I can get it on a gravel bike, but it may involve at least one cyclocross style dismount and a bit of running.

I'm not so sure. I'm expecting a bit of journey of discover when I work out why some off the offroad KOMs are so slow!

There's probably an uprooted tree I haven't accounted for or something.

Offroad introduces so many variables. I did one local gravel road, and it was diabolical, large mud ruts left by 4wd tyres, potholes, gravel washed across the road. Could barely ride it. A few weeks later I saw the council was grading it, and went back. It was smooth, compacted dirt. I swear it was probably quicker than asphalt :D

As for me for 2023, hoping for 15,000km with at least 150,000vm. However, my main aim is to stay healthy and enjoy my riding

I'm going to back out of my target, I'm behind already a bit and a few other things are going on. I'll do whatever is possible.

I wouldn't be surprised if I fail to meet mine too.
I am less motivated than I once was but do still enjoy getting out there.
It is a motivator but who knows what cards life will deal us.

1087km/15,381m.

And 25 KOMs with number 300 today, so the plan to hold back is not going well.

You know when you're in the zone when you see a segment that is obviously held by a dude in a car, think 'I should probably flag that' and then take it before you get around to it.

10.25 km, 8 m of up.

First ride today, since my encounter with a motorist back in early December. Taking it extremely easy on the indoor trainer. Wanted to keep going, but alas, I will adhere to my physio's far superior knowledge of human movement and function.

Still harbour hopes of being a part of this thread if I can get back up to full speed within maybe two months.

Everyone else has started off brilliantly, slaying it, gang! Keep it up. :D

I got started with about 1.5km - Cervelo S5. First time I got on that since hospital and just using normal shoes. I had to drop the saddle a little bit, but it was nice to ride a real bike again, even if only very cautiously.

I won’t be going out much on it as it’s still too risky at the moment.

Other than that I’ve been riding Alpe Du Zwift a fair bit recently.

Great to see you are back outside. Maybe you’ll need to consider a more relaxed bike than the S5.
