Smart trainer options

Hey all, just saw this on black Friday sale and wondering if this is A) a good trainer, and B) If it can swapped to 12spd cassette for sram rival axs? Anyone used these before?

I've previously used Tacx Neo 1 and Neo 2T, they were quite solid. Currently have Kickr Bike.

I don't believe the Zwift Hub is available in Australia.

But given it is the same trainer, whatever occurs for Hub will be the same for the other. Same with cassette options.

With the Hub you can choose the cassette you want (e.g. 11, 12 speed) but the Volt only comes with an 11-speed cassette and you would need to buy the 12- speed AXS hub separately. At that price for the Volt you might as well buy the better Wahoo Kickr Core which is also $899.

The hub support forum has been full of cranky people to be honest.

One of the support comments to one customer was:

"I understand this is frustrating because I’m sure you want to get riding as soon as possible. Since the product you’re referring to is not produced or offered by Zwift, we have no official ‘fix’ or ‘workaround’ for it.

Really... All the better to stay far away from it.

I know also Kickrs are not particularly great for people who put out a lot of power - someone in our Zwift group goes through them very quickly, they fail at a very regular rate.

I've been using the Volt version 1 for about 18 months and have had no issues using zwift/fulgaz. Mind you, my sprint doesn't come close to the max power of 1800watts

I'd prefer it over the Kickr core as the Volt sends power/cadence/heart rate over 1 x channel to the apply tv.. no issue in running out of channels once you include the remote.

It's advertised as 12speed compatible

Yeah I don't punch out huge power, it's more ticking over the kms... and I was interested in the smart block to turn in zwift which is included in the price. I think I will need the 12spd hub from jetblack and then use the 12spd cassette, so it does add up in the end.

Let me say that turning in Zwift is really ridiculous, it doesn't let you turn at junctions, it just lets you move left or right on the road - but only sometimes. If a rider is beside you (or a group) then you'll be pushed out to the edge.

I have turning ability with my Kickr Bike and it's not something I bother with anymore.

For the past 18 months, I've been running Volt version 1 with zwift/fulgaz without any problems. My best sprint is nowhere near the maximum power of 1800 watts, mind you.coreball

Because the Volt transmits power, cadence, and heart rate over a single x channel to the applicable TV, I find myself favoring it over the Kickr core. After adding the remote, there is no danger of exhausting the available channels.

There is a good deal on the wahoo core and v5 refurbished from wahoo for $719 and $1199... might be good options also.
