They're showing up as "no longer available" for me at the moment, but the GP5000 are showing up as $64 (or $124 per pair).
BTW. What's the difference between the GP5000 and the GP5000s. Does anyone know?

Regular 5000 is not.
However, yeah as Foo says, about $100.

Shimano shifter cables. What's the difference between Select, Advanced, and Ultimate?
And why is buying two Ultimate inner cables more expensive than buying a whole kit?

$19,000 for a bike and you have to assemble it yourself? No.stevenaaus wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 9:14 amPushys pushing the boundaries on pricey gimmicks

Shimano cables are ridiculously confusing. Particularly when it seems the more expensive ones (optislick) reportedly don't last as long.

Select - Stainless Steel, cheapest (within this range), reasonably durable (about 5K km's for me), highest friction but perfectly okay on 10/11 speed systems.
Advanced/Optislick - PTFE (Teflon) Coated Stainless Steel, mid-priced, 5k km's durability for me, reduced friction/easy shifting, best value vs performance IMHO.
Ultimate - Polymer Coated Stainless Steel, most expensive, poor durability (<5k km), least friction but the polymer coating rubs off and "fluffs-up" at any contact/friction point such as inside the shifters and at entry and exit from ferrules.

I only buy the Stainless Steel cables (least expensive) but have a jar of Shimano shifter cable grease that I use. Agree that the Polymer coated cables are the worst performing. Used them once (they came with a new groupset) but never again.Tim wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 11:39 amI think I can decipher Bikebug's branding of Shimano gear cables:

Reckon I'll stick with $10 tubes then.

I have had a great run from road tubeless and definitely prefer it to tubes.
Not paying stupid prices for the tyres though. Back to tubes next time if I need to purchase and they remain stupidly expensive.

$10 tubes? Look at Mr Fancy Pants here!
$7 Conti Races here. In packs of 10.
I'm currently being put off road tubeless because I'm suspicious I'll get similar mileage out of them to clinchers. And that seems like a lot of things to faff about with every 1000km or so.

Sorry for the dumb question guys (I haven't had much to do with tubeless), but what happens if you try running a regular 5000GP in a tubeless setup? Are the sidewalls too porous or something? What about if you just used a little bit more sealant in them. Just wondering if anyone has ever tried to make it work.

I am far newer to the tubeless game than many and no expert.uart wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 10:03 pm

Yes, the entire carcass would be more porous I expect.
The main concern would be lack of seal at the bead I expect. The sealant is too far away to help and I'd be scared that even if they inflated, aren't designed to be airtight and would be more likely to "burp" resulting in a sudden loss of air pressure.
Seating tubeless tyres when you fit them can be hard with some tyres and that is with the correct bead. Probably just wouldn't seat and hold air.

Lol you're replacing tyres every 1000km or less, so no need to faff with replacing/topping up sealant on a periodic basis.Mr Purple wrote: ↑Tue Mar 29, 2022 4:22 pm

Otherwise - latex tubes FTW if you want to get fancy schmancy.

Plus at $140/pop that doesn't sound like fun.
