But yeah not the best.

I was hoping van Aert was going to win after all the work he was forced to do at the end.
Carapaz had the legs to stay away.
Well done.

This might be heretical here, but I am always disappointed when an individual road race ends in a sprint, and someone who has sat behind all day wins. So it was very satisfying to see someone win by going it alone for the last few kms.
And he doubled Ecuador's Olympic all-time gold medal count!

I don't think anyone ever deserves first place, but WVA definitely deserved second if he couldn't win.

The team push on the flats didn’t really make a difference. Just the last hill plus the catcand mouse games too away genuine chances fot the gold.

Anyway, not watching it 'cept on cyclingnews. Been shuffled off tv for... water polo and 7plus is too crappy/ads for me last time i tried.
Men's was a great one though. Tough race alright.

Well there are still 4 dutch women in the peleton as far as I can see, so I guess she is still there. (10km from finish).
Anyway if the leader (Kiesenhofer) holds on and wins I will be happy (see my comments on the men's race).
p.s. 7plus is fine for me. Yes there are occasional ads, but no different from TV.

The winner's emotion was priceless though. Lying on the road, crying her eyes out and trying to catch her breath at the same time. Anna Kiesenhofer isn't even a pro rider i think.

She clearly didn't count the number of riders in the breakaway. The winner has a PhD in Mathematics, not Van Vleuten.
