My love of all things bright orange (and very positive reviews) has lead me to consider buying the Orbea Orca M20:

$4500, full carbon, Ultegra mechanical, very positive reviews on ride comfort, and it comes in bright orange, the best colour in the universe

The M20 is their lower grade OMR carbon, not the top spec OMX which also has some aero features to the frame. But I think this sounds like a great all rounder.

Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences with Orbea, or their dealers in Australia? I'm also considering an aero Merida Reacto but apparently their importer is a nightmare to deal with in case of warranty claims etc.

One of my ride buddies has an Orbea roadie, not sure which model. He speaks well of it. I think it would be a safe purchase.

Those that I have seen were well finished with good paintwork. Have seen a couple of roadies (Avant, Orca) and a Carpe flat bar road bike.

Some deeper wheels at some point down the track is all I would do.

I've already got some 38mm carbon wheels on my alloy roadie

Yeah I'd go deeper personally, but they would be better than shallow aluminium wheels.
Enve are saying 35mm is the minimum for aero advantage. Deeper is generally faster.

I have some 85mm token singles.
58mm firecrest 404s.
50mm tubless primes.
The primes are the cheapest but my favourite.
Don't notice the wind at all on them.
No steering effect from sidewinds.
Better than the 404s, which are pretty good also, and stronger hubs.
The 85mm front token can blow around a bit.
I am 75kg.

Post up some photos if you grab the Orbea. Looks like a mighty fine bike

They seem to pushing into the WA market, so you think dealer backup should be ok. Noted Bike Bug in Subiaco had a couple in stock. Nice looking bikes.

I'd hope so, but I bought a Merida MTB and then heard from multiple owners that if you ever have a problem, Advance Traders who import them are a nightmare to deal with. They're being sold by 99Bikes and are great bikes, but anything I eventually buy will be with me for 10+ years so support is relevant.

That said, the Reacto 6000 for $3700 is mighty tempting. Aero but acceptable comfort supposedly, mech Ultegra, comes with 2kg alloy wheels but again, I've got the Prime carbons already....if only it came in bright orange.....

I'm keen on the Reacto 6000 too, especially at the price 99Bikes has them going for. Only problem is, they only appear to have one in stock in my size (at least, according to their website), and it's in Ipswich... a tad far for me.

What size are you after? Do they have it in stock?

The Orbea looks mighty fine. I'd have no qualms buying one, long established brand. Euskaltel–Euskadi used to ride them in the TDF from memory.
