Anyone in Warrnambool?

Postby P!N20 » Mon Oct 19, 2020 7:06 pm

Looks like I'll be spending the odd day in Warrnambool for work over the next few months. I reckon there's some pretty nice riding around the area, so I'm thinking I'll take a bike and get up early for a ~1 hour or so ride before I start work.

Any Warrnambool locals on the forum that could suggest some nice 30-40k loops or even keen to tag along with a Campy obsessed retrogrouch?

Didn’t want to waste this thread - cracking morning for it.

When are you riding from Warrnambool to Melbourne - I would have thought it was obligatory for a retro grouch :D
Anything you can do, I can do slower

I thought about it. Then my legs started hurting, so I stopped thinking about it.

Me and some friends rode Melbourne to Warrnambool as a day trip back when Westgate had a shoulder (although bikes were prohibited). We took off from Port Melbourne and day tripped down there. Solid day and we had enough in the tank for a sprint at the finish line. Never raced it, I think that day was enough to put me off the idea of racing it. Not sure what hurt more riding there or sitting on the car for 3 hours to get back the next day!
