Yeah, 3AW = 2UE/2GB. Same crud, different shovel. The sarcasm in the comment is great.

On the road or the separate bike path?
If road..how far from the kerb. Inside the white parking lane?
I'm curious because big tacks will flat a road tire (let alone a bike tire)...I'm wondering if any cars are reporting flats.

I saw a car changing wheels in Walmer St a couple of months ago. Don't know if it was reported as publicity was lower.

Possibly. I would've thought that the tacks are a little too small to trouble cars, but you never know.
The tack attack is being discussed over at
http://www.fixed.org.au/forums/f17/publ ... ard-30936/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
as well.
One of the members there has jerry rigged a rolling magnet device and is diligently sweeping the bvd to augement Vic Roads' efforts.
I think it would be reasonable to assume that the tack-er is reading these forums to gauge his or her progress, so caution is advised in these comments. They may take some satisfaction in the inconvenience they are causing cyclists. Whether or not they feel the same way about the motorists they and motorcylists they are annoying is another matter, or the guy who fell off his bike due to the tack.
Apparently a man walking his dog had to take a tack out of his dog's paw.
Its slightly ridiculous. And surely the tack-er's sense of entitlement will eventually be exhausted. Its a bit sad he or she has nothing better to do.

And again this morning.

Quite a few riders affected.

Should have stayed well clear of the kerb's edge.

I noticed this was mentioned on
ABC Lateline.
ARTY LAVOS, SERGEANT, VICTORIA POLICE: The outcomes of something like that could be quite serious. There could be some quite serious injuries and the person doing that could be facing criminal charges.

Blackburn are running their monthly TT around the boulevard this Sunday, hopefully we don't see a bunch of guys have their race ruined (or crash) by going over some tacks.

Helped out a couple of women this morning who needed a pump as they'd been tacked on the boulevard. They mentioned they'd seen a few others with flats so still happening.

Apparently another batch of tacks were thrown out a couple of days ago. The magnet wielding cycling heroes are on the job from what I hear and if other people want to create their own magnetic devices to pull up the tacks I'm sure everyone else would be greatly appreciative.

One of the Meetup groups IIRC was advertising a time trial around Albert Park lake as 'tack-free'.

I rode the Blackburn ITT on Sunday and a lap on my way home from work on Monday. One person got a flat on the Sunday out of 70 odd riders and I didnt see anyone changing flats on the Monday.

Well looks we've had a copy cat episode of tacks on one of our most popular cycling routes in Bendigo. Spread on the shoulder/cycling lane were a heap of furniture/upholstery tacks last Sat. Multiple punctures, with some riders copping it in both tyres.
I'm now leaning towards publicity being bad in that it may encourage more of the same from similarly mindless rsoles.
It was these sort of tacks and they were new, no rust or corrosion.

Rode Boule' today. Nil flats.... spoke to a cyclist who said he saw a silver early 2000's Astra hatch a couple of weeks back, around lunch time mid week. Female driver, male passenger dropping handfuls of tacks from the car. He approached them and they got out of there real quick. Rego obtained. Wont publish here yet as Im making enquiries.
Keep an eye out.

Perhaps they pay road tacks?
