And closed yesterday morning as well.

This topic goes back around 14 months. Is it good enough to keep closing the PSP with no warnings?

Yes you can ride around the front, but that is not the point. The point is this section keeps getting closed, no warning, and no information why it keeps getting closed.

I think it's because they use it for a small crane to put something up... Probably some someone can look in on what's going on for free

Anyway, it's always closed when I check it out - I thought it just hadn't been re-opened since they started this thread?

David.

Didnt i read in this thread or elsewhere on this forum that the path is on private property so can be closed at any time?

The Landgate Mapviewer shows it as being within the curtilage of Perth Arena. I think because of this issues of access and ownership Main roads spent a vast amount of money building the Shared Path on the western side of the Arena.

I think it's more realistic to see it as a bonus whenever it's open.

still closed.

It was open for a significant period of time, uninterupted until recently. I've never actually seen anything happening along there to require closing it. That crane must go home at night.

I think it's more realistic to see this as a complete and utter failure of planning.

I'm becoming most concerned about the future of the PSP through the King's square

There's no sign of connection between the PSP and the new Wellington St separated path. Nor any indication of what one is to do at the eastern end of said path - recent works in front of the trainstation have left no cycling facilities there.

The friendly Perth Arena tweetbot advises:
it's for safety as works are conducted on the north side of the venue. Sorry for the inconvenience
then
it is due to the construction works sorry!

No cycle lanterns to cross Milligan Street at the lights.

Shared path behind Perth Arena closed again on the ride home this evening. A4 signs installed 'NO ENTRY - Perth Arena'.

Will be interested to see how long this lasts this time, as tennis season is around the corner, which is always fun with that number of spectators.

i went through this morning, but probably easier to go around.

There were what looked to be power cables running from the building crossing the path that were protected by those big temporary speed hump thingies.

Not nice to roll over, im just gonna go around the other way if its still blocked tomorrow

I followed the flock this morning, and went through. There was no warnings of the closure and there was enough room at both ends to cycle through.

I'm a little confused with why, I'm assuming is was a very large electrical generator, was required to be installed on the currently unused bus bridge with what looked like a very large number of electrical cables leading back to the Arena. If this requirement was to occur again in the future, the bus bridge will not be available.

One still has to question with the number of outages occurring for this section of the PSP, what the heck is occurring with the Perth Arena.

Its clear the 'bus bridge' is overflow storage/parking for ancillaries during perth arena events

TBH this doesn't bother me. The diversion is quite visible from the shared path so it's not like you have to turn around and go back, so what purpose would a warning serve?

Detoured through the city last night to find the path behind the Arena closed again. 'Works in Progress' said the sign but I couldn't see much happening. Instead forced to ride through the tennis crowds:

Was closed after Christmas, so three weeks now, and yes I have seen nothing happen over that time.

Shout out to the BWA who managed to get in touch with the arena's GM. Apparently it is aerial work being undertaken - with nothing happening on the ground. Still taking a bloody long time. And I bet they can't work up there in the winds we've had for the last few days too.

There was a crane/cherry picker on the path there today at 0915 today, having trouble negotiating the gate. So hopefully finally some action.

It's there this morning 07:30 but not (yet) in action. I guess the forecast was for strong winds this morning, so they slept in.

It's a shame that it needs this escalation, Perth Arena never replied to the two messages I sent them.
