Lies!!
Fallacy!
Personal experience : I blow up in no time at all... like I did yesterday.

But...
Dive, Dive! 98.7kg (99.1kg after dinner) and descending!
And despite stuffing my face and making myself feel sick with food today... heading towards a 3K-Kj deficit for the day.
Well at least that's one good thing out of that eh?
What bug, do they know? Can't they just kill it? (yeah it'll kill lots of other bits and pieces too, eating zero polysaccharides surely can't be the lesser evil).
Erythromycin? From playing with staph aureus of the not-so-friendly kind?
Erythromycin for prostitis as a follow on from a UTI.
April/May 2005... I had a milkshake one Sunday night, couldn't stop burping. The following afternoon, while drinking a ginger beer I had a searing pain in the chest - I though I was having a heart attack : the hiatus hernia coming into being. Everything went downhill from there. Shortness of breath, couldn't sleep on my back (felt like I was stopping breathing at the point of falling alseep), started feeling stressed, vague/floaty, couldn't eat much as my stomach seemed to be full all the time, and burping like a champion. Five doctors ("you're just stressed") and some hospital trips in the middle of the night ("we think you have reflux") before I got a referral to a specialist, by which time I'd lost 16kg. September : the gastroscopy showed "mild chronic inflammation of the duodenum" and I was missing three out of the four disaccharide digestive enzymes due to damage to the villi - same basic effect as celiac disease. The specialist (no idea what to do), referred me to a dietician... who also had no idea how to treat it. Three months later, I was a f'in wreck, depression and anxiety, startle reflex out of control, living on ~six hours sleep a night. It was in January 2006 when someone on the failsafe food list posted a mention of the "specific carbohydrate diet"... which got me back on my feet mentally/physically in about three months. And by the end of 2006 I'd put all of the missing weight back on.
Interesting thing : I always thought the startle reflex issue was due to post traumatic stress disorder, but it came back last week with a vengance when it all went downhill again.
So... I'm pretty sure I have (again) damaged villi in the small intestine and bacteria where bacteria aren't supposed to be. But, f'me - I couldn't lose any weight last year and I've gone from 103.7 down to 98.7 in the space of a few weeks! Coming to get you, TLL!
And, most importantly : THIS time I know how to deal with it.
Except, it's going to kill my race performance.
