I can make a good amount of power..but my power to weight isn't great...about 3.6w per kilo at ftp.I hope to be over 4w per kg by next year and 4.3w per kg by March...but I would be suprised if I ever hit 4.5..but one can dream  .I just suck at losing weight!!!.

Go ride a TT for about an hour.

But there are other ways to estimate:

Knock on the door this morning - it's my wheel! And the comp now has the cutout hub with CF inserts! Dead sexy.

Shame I've just been back to the doctor and my throat/one middle ear has spread to the other ear and I now have swollen glands. Two antibiotics at the same time...
I ride, therefore I am. But don't ride into harm's way.
...real cyclists don't have squeaky chains...

Depends on which way you want to test it...?.I couldn't do an hour test on a trainer (some could) and I would struggle with a 20 min...but I will do a MAP test today on my TACX trainer...Ant does MAP tests on the road but I couldn't hold my power steady enough to do that.

Ear infections are the worst..I need 10 day on AB's to get rid of them...no FTP testing for a few weeks for you  .

If you didn't read my link above, you should. Also this one about the pitfalls or common mistakes made when testing/estimating FTP:
http://alex-cycle.blogspot.com/2009/07/ ... ftp-2.html

The venue chosen depends somewhat on the test methodology and the quality of an indoor set up if considering that.
