I haven't got links to them, but some really interesting not-junk has popped up on FB marketplace.
Out at Boonah there's a lugged aluminium Peugeot Comete with what looks like a mix of Sachs Huret and Weinmann running gear for just $65! And in Brisbane a very clean Kestrel Talon with 10 speed Ultegra and Spinergy wheels for $250.

Is that one worth saving? It’s got a lot of rust and with the steering rusted solid is there any hope for it?
Serious question. I think I’m getting wary of project bikes..

If it was nearby to me I'd be keeping a close eye on how the auction proceeds. I reckon the frame is well and truly usable with patina (or spot paint where missing). The frozen steering is a headset issue (pending how stuck the stem ends up being), while the campy pista crankset and airlight hubs are worth treating the rusty chainring bolts and hub nuts

Yes, I would be in like Flynn if I was local-ish and it stayed that cheap. Hubs and chainset make it worthwhile but the frame is totally usable either with fix up/patina or a re-spray if you had to. I've rebuilt stuff a lot worse than that...
Mind you, sounds like it needs a new headset....

Certainly looks quite interesting, I'm running out of space for bikes at home currently though. Rather unfortunate.

Bit hard to make out detail on my crappy tablet, but looks like there might be a panto on the fork crown and the rear dropouts look consistent with Merckx. Well worth enquiring and will be easy enough to confirm.

You made me nearly spray out my cup of tea
In all seriousness, I'm trying to work out what I can get rid of in order to justify an inspection of the bike a few posts above.

Photos on a lot of ads seem to be really low quality. Not sure if it's the websites downgrading the picture files or just people using potatoes for cameras

Bit of both. The trading sites do compress images, but it doesn't help that many of the photos are poor quality to start with.
