Look Mum - I'm flying
Postby rolandp » Sat Nov 20, 2010 1:22 am
Took a photo this morning:
MainRoads confirmed today that they have expected the site and will be taking action (I did report it two weeks ago and followed up since). I also passed on the image showing how much this has now risen. I have another closer image where I had actually put the house brick under the gap to show how big it now is.
As the weather heats up, this thing does happen on some of the older concrete paths, so if you notice a rise developing, report it, and try to remember to slow down around the area.

I dont think singnage is the answer as it adds too the visual polution,a coulpe of parking tickets would do the trick.

Still some sink holes I've seen during winter look scarier.

They really need to replace the whole section because there's lots of thirsty gum trees in the area which have lifted most of the slabs. That ones the worse of them though.Baalzamon wrote:They need to replace that section with hotmix because every year a slab will pop up.

I passed that section on Friday and although dangerous, it would have been fun to speed over it and try to get some air .

Heard back from Main Roads today, and crew is scheduled out this week 'to cut and install larger expansion joints'.

I counted 9 other spots in this area where this treatment has occured (and aren't these lovely mounts still). Near Dunster Rd they removed a whole section and replaced it as it had also developed a lovely mound over time.
I would like to think that this will be the last treatment required in this area but history keeps repeating itself.

That's certainly a dangerous spot at the moment. I was going past there the other day and there was a witches hat, which I presumed was for the guy who was painting over the grafitti on the fence. At least I'd slowed down for him before I reached the spot you're talking about. I'll see if I can get a good pic of this in the next day or so.gazman wrote:May now need to move the mattress to 25 m south of Beach Rd underpass!!

The witches hat I mentioned had been thrown over the mesh fench and was about half way down the embankment to the freeway. You'd get some air coming from the South, but come from the North and you didn't know this was here, all you'd get is a face full of pavement!

I've always been tempted to take a can of paint to complete the markings (ie where there is a bump which hasn't been marked), but never have in case it slowed down the repairs on the originally marked bump.
If your bump hasn't been marked, report it to Main Roads.

I noticed the hump on the way home this evening (heading north). On the way in (heading south) didn't notice it, in the morning.
Will report next to MainRoads to rectify before it gets too large.
