Great so you did get the point that athletes other than discuss throwers, shot putters, heavyweight wrestlers, boxers and weightlifters could be over the healthy BMI (as you said you interpreted the link you found).rogan wrote:Apart from proving my point, is there something else I am supposed to be taking from this? BMI is not the gold standard for assessing athlete ability? For avoidance of doubt, I accept that.
And a lot of basketballers are overweight on the BMI scale - when Michael Jordan was in his prime he was around 27 - 29 on the BMI scale, but he was far from being overweight.

Cmon guys, lets not argue about BMI. Nowdays, it's only used for general populations, and not individual athletes (reference my posterior lycra!) They both have very different body types, besides; good preparation, strong tactics and smart gearing will earn just as many points in the mountains (and maybe Lances downtube front-shifter..)
What are these salesmen peddling?

We all enjoy a good argument sometimes...I do know that BMI is a generalized measurement that doesn't take into account body fat percentages.
But I am still surprised that Basso's race weight is 70kgs .
