I would be interested in your thoughts about CCC... Steve Nash has a good reputation, but seems a bit exxy compared withother places, ....

Have been to Steve a couple of times, and yes, it is not cheap, but last time it took well over an hour and he has good experience for sure. Not just some guy who has attended a training session.

may seem exxy, but worth every penny if you have problems that need to get resolved.

He gets my vote.

Actually need to head back there for a bike service prior to TdU and also get the new shoes set up properly (Sidi's)

i agree with the "get what u pay for" sentiments, but its nice to be reassured before laying down the hard earned that u do in fact get what u pay for...

One thing i have found difficult to find in adelaide is a LBS whos will to spend the time to throw the bike on a trainer, and put the time into trialling some saddles before they expect u to shell out $200+ for one... surely that should be the minimum to expect!

Hopefully during a fit at CCC i might be able to convince them to do that as i just broke my comfy yumcha saddle

welcome eeksll. Went through a similar experience not long ago..
..turned out the rear wheel wasn't true either! ...

what is with that? My experience is not as bad as an untrue wheel. This is my second bike I have purchased in less than a year (lets not get into that) and neither of the 2 stores bothered to pump up any of my tyres. Starting to wander if that is standard practice. All the tires where about 60 psi according to my pump at home ...

im getting some work done on my bike at Corsa Cycle Center on Gouger Street, depending on how i feel there service etc is then ill decide whether i go there for a bike fit and let you know, Steve

In regards to BE... friend had a fit there last week for $65. The operator was very shy and reserved, and it all was a little bit of an uncomfortable process. After a short time it was decided that bike was probably as close to being right before the fit, (after dropping the seat an inch) and that the frame was probably a smidge big anyway. At this point any further interest in experimenting/fitting was lost. BE ended up only charging $35 because we were there for 10mins.

To qualify this against the previous BE post, the business has obviously changed hands since then, and the fittings now done by different guys to who did U2Adams earlier in this thread.

Interesting to hear this. The two fellas who fitted me certainly weren't the shy type but then they did seem to have a lot of staff there so who knows...

I am thinking about getting another fitting done there since I have had some serious physio and chiro work done on my back since March.

Will have to read this thread again to get other suggestions.

Not having been to Steve Hogg, can only go by website and other feedback. Steve Hogg is a different ballgame and cost.

Steve (AT) Corsa does well and is based on experience, rather than a fancy system. Steve Hogg has a more holistic approach.

I was very happy with Mike Tutur Cycles in Medindie, the fit cost $55 took the best part of an hour. The improvement was incredible, the guy Chris gave excellent service and worked fitting cyclists at the Veledrome for 15 yrs. I did the Coast to Coast and couldn't believe the difference in the power generated by the adjustments made. I would discourage the service and bike fit given at Glenelg cycles and I also was advised the frame was too small for my height. My seat tube had to go up another 6 cms and know looks redicously too high. The changes to my cleats now see the correct positioning of my feet over the pedal and no more pins and needle feelings in my toes. The best $55 I've ever spent, I know where I'll be going for my next roadie.

without giving away their trade secrets, what kind of stuff did they do when they did the bike fit?

Was it measurment based, eyeballing or a mixture of both?

Was foot position based on ball of foot over pedal axle/knee over pedal axle? (Ive been using Steve Hogg's shoe placement advice which advocates moving the ball of your foot forward of the pedal axle, ie cleats further back, and not worrying where your knee sits in relation to pedal axle provided you can sit on the bike without weight bearing on the arms).

Did you have any specific fit issues before you went in? (mine are all related to neck/shoulder pain on long rides and long descents).

Id like to go and see Steve Hogg but cant justify the airfare/fee so wondered how the Corsa fella's operate as they may be the next best option.

it was mostly measurement based, and the fact that they have done so many pro team fits before.... it really gave them the edge locally....

I think I will be back for some fine tuning, but the overall view at this stage is MORE POWER!!!!

Thanks, Ive got that DVD, but I have specific issues with neck/shoulder pain and the DVD doesn't go into enough detail to self-diagnose. Everything else Steve Hogg has suggested re foot position fore/aft, saddle position fore/aft and saddle height has made a huge difference to my ability to ride long and hard without post-ride muscle soreness. I did the Coast to Coast in 3hrs 40 min with very little training so my bike position must be OK to generate good power and ride long distances without fatiguing specific muscles. Theres just a handle bar height/stem length thing I can't get right.

How much did Corsa charge?

$160 for the fit.... but I think that its an on going thing that they keep working on with the rider.... good results so far!... luckily I don't have many injuries or the like to have to work around.... I hope you can find what you need!

Just got a fitting done by Corsa definitely worth the money for the advise and peace and quite of a small shop, compared to a much busier shop and have people staring at you

Don't hesitate to ask/question, as Steve is very approachable and forthcoming.

Also, depending on the chnages amde, it can take some time to adjust.

I remember when I got my 1st fitting, riding back home felt so wierd, even though I felt fine before, the difference once I'd gotten used to it was considerable.

I had a fitting done at Corsa Cycles a week and a half ago. It seems to have resolved the problem that prompted me to go and get one done (lower back aching about 20km into rides) - good service, happy to explain how the fit works, chat about the bike and different aspects of it, give advice on what to look for etc.

I would say it is worth the money.

yep!

I am sure steve would fit you just as well to an old bike as a new bike.... it still has wheels and adjustable bits

Yep to both. If any shop refused to do it based on the age iof the bike, it's the last time I'd be stepping in there.

having said that, make sure it's in good condition (proper working order (eg clean, seatpost and stems actually move - maybe a clean and partial disassemble first) and clean all over, and I can't see a problem at either place***.

I was fitted by James at EFM Physiotherapy in conjuction with a specialist bike tech.

After having 2 fits by other stores meantioned above I was a little hesitant... It was a little pricey at $220 but it did include my normal treatment which is almost half that.. It took me a few weeks to get used to the new position but now can ride for a lot longer without the problems I had before!
