Postby querulous1991 » Sun Nov 15, 2009 10:29 pm

Hay,

well title says it all bascically, im looking for a coach. ive been cycling for 8 years now and only for a few months i was trained under a coach, otherwise ive always trained myself (with input from father). Im currently 18 and looking for a performance boost in the next year ( sounds wierd but hard to explain). i want to specialise in road, but like track and mtb racing as well. If you know/are a coach feel free to pm me with any information you need or simply reply to this thread.

cheers

join a local club, they'll be able to point you in the right direction.

I should of said I've been racing for 8 years. I've done a few state and national titles in the past and looking for something serious.

You can drop me a line if you like:
alex@cyclecoach.com

See sig line for website link and some intro info. Will either be able to assist or maybe suggest something/someone.

I have/do coach several world, national and State champions, as well as a masters world record for the hour.

Your at the age that you should be pushing yourself to get in your states institute. Thats the best bet, youll be looked after at no cost with the best people behind you. Some states have a development coach, you should try.

You been racing for 8 years, ask the top riders for some help, what they do? Some will be happy to share some training secrets.

It can be hard to get a good coach, if they good they normally tied up with State Institutes. There are millions of people who think they can coach, but only listen to the ones with expierence and have been very successful in the sport.

Depends on what u wanna do aswell. I think you should stick to endurance track, the best come from endurance track. Great platform.

Call your local track and ask about training with a specific group, ie. development, institute

good luck

That's true

I disagree with this. I know many very fine coaches that are not employed by government sponsored bodies. And some that are, aren't (all that good).

I don't know about millions. And define "successful in the sport". Successful athletes aften make the worst coaches. Certainly one needs to have experience of competition at a reasonable enough level to understand the racing/competition nuances.
