I've recently bought the same trainer as you have...and I love it!
How long were you on the trainer to produce that amount of marbles?
I did a 30min session this morning and there were a few bits on the floor, but nothing like your photo.
Maybe I just need to HTFU and push harder?! :twisted:

Jeremy, I've been shredding my rear tyre that much on my trainer the last week as well!!

I was pretty worried that I'm doing something wrong with the setup of the bike in the trainer - too close to the roller perhaps? Really unsure :(

It sucks to have that much crap to clean up all the time as well.

the feedback i got was to adjust the roller so that it sits hard (harder) up against the tyre. previously i had the roller just touching the tyre and it was probably spinning (spinning as in doing a burnout :) )

Also is anyone using a flat bar on their trainer? Any reason why it wouldn't be a good idea or much worse than using a road bike?

I cant see any differences really if the bike has 700C wheels. Only difference would be the riding position i guess. I just use my training bike in the trainer.

Tried out the trainer again today with JV's suggested adjustment - ALL BETTER!

the only thing I was worred about was the self inflicted pain

trainers, what are the benefits? ... being able to do a MAP test.Whether that is a good thing or not depends on the person but today is the first ever time I have hit my max HR on a mag trainer!.

Personally, I can't do MAPs indoors, at least, not on my trainer. I tried, but the MAP score didn't correlate at all with my interval wattage. So I do mine outside now :mrgreen:
Can't hit the same max HR on my trainer that I've done at the labs at university, whether that's because my mates are yelling at me at uni, or because they have better gear [autobraked/watts controlled SRM], I don't know.

Rain jacket, overshoes, gilet. Maybe armwarmers. That's all the Perth winters demand.

Actually I think I pulled the pin a few seconds early now :roll: ...probably only had another 10seconds (if that) in me but I was very suprised to see 190bpm...I have only seen that one other time this year in a race!...can't wait for the next one :lol: .

re the adjustment...its a fine line between too loose and shredding the tyre & too tight and not being able to turn the frikken pedals!

esp when you try a leg-melting spinervals mega hill session dvd for the 1st time :shock:

Well it wasn't easy, almost fell off when I pulled the pin :lol: , but indoor training is something I just can't do.

Post map-test syndrome: believing we could've held on for another 10 or more seconds :lol: happens to everyone! My (only, and current) outdoor one, I pulled the pin when a truck came rushing past at 90kph, and me, fighting a crosswind, getting interrupted by his slipstream, wow, just wow. It was a freezing cold day, with heavy rain [no wet weather gear on], with gusty cross winds. I lost my mojo when he roared past. Maybe I had another 10 more seconds in me too :mrgreen: Reality is though, an extra 10secs might give you a handful more watts, but ZR-Z3 will barely be different, and intervals are based on what you've done before.

Def wasn't too tight. I could turn the pedals pretty well - the 53-12 was hard work but it's supposed to be I guess.
You're right about the spinervals DVDs though, something in me definitely twigged when the title was "mental toughness"

On the plus side though my cruising speed is up and my weight is down, so it's paying off quite nicely
