Hi:
Out of interest, as a bent rider, what's your preferred choice of "lower half wear"?
Until the last few years, I'd worn bike nicks with varying levels of comfort. I found I'd get some thigh chafing from the chamois and lycra high on my thigh (always the left for some reason) despite lots of "bum cream" applied there beforehand, I guess because there wasn't the pressure of a seat to position the chamois where it needed to be. In part, I was wearing nicks while still riding an upright bike to work.
Lately, I've moved to lycra sports shorts and longs, (basically, lycra gym wear) with no chamois insert for cushioning. I wear Bonds boxers underneath, their "easy wash / quick dry" version. My trike has a mesh seat, this combination works best for me - still with some careful application of bum cream on sensitive bits.
What works for you?
Cheers

I ride with bib knicks for over a decade at 10k km plus a year. Wont ride with anything else.
However I have never ridden a recumbent so no idea if it is applicable at all. I suspect not.

Tried bib shorts once on the trike, and once in the Rotovelo.... nope....very uncomfortable on both under a jersey....chafing layers when laid back.... one jersey is the 'bent way...
Regular nicks are ok, once you get used to the padding in them....
IMHO, what works for me in the Rotovelo.. MTB shorts without padding...no chafing, no butt cream
and don't forget the sandals

for longer rides gym wear stuff : lycra or cotton with no padding.
But as I am a transport/utility rider, I want pockets! For my wallet and phone and keys and the little bag of "can't be arsed fighting my way into the locked racktop bag allen keys" and my travelling glasses. So I can get off the bike, lock it up, and go.
So my current summer "heading out to do something" is a pair of tradies shorts from Lowes. Tough and take a lot of sweating in, plus heaps of closeable or otherwise recumbent safe pockets!
