There is a push for Western Sydney to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games, see ABC and SMH which would be good news for Dunc Gray.
Unless it gets demolished first and then they have to spend money building another one. Aside from football (Rugby League) events, I don't think there is much appetite for any hosting of major sporting events like the Commonwealth Games.

Has there been any resolution thus far in the funding of DGV?

No.

Here's CNSW's most recent statement on it.

Hosting such games comes with massive costs, skews investment away from things that matter and would be a crummy way to secure DGV's future.

As for the local member's statement in Hansard about importance of keeping ownership local, the Bankstown Sports club doesn't want it.

6 years later that still seems to be the plan Foo

Built for Sydney 2000, this Olympic venue’s future is in doubt

Yeah, they can waste money on stuff that tries to make them (the government) look good but the simple matter of up-keep for maintainence is objected to.

Cycling (aka cockroaches on wheels, according to one politician) is very unpopular so governments investing money into it will face a huge backlash. Just even building a small length of cycleway erupts into a huge battle over destroying human-rights, etc. Imagine what a furore there would be when proposing to fund maintenance on a big velodrome.

Investing that money into things that benefit motorists or more traditional Australian sports is always a winner, especially if those sports are the ones associated with "honest, hard-working battlers".

It's crap, but that's how it is.

Well yes, but even some cyclists support them and will even argue strongly in support of them on forums. Until cycling is united against these crooks, we have no chance.

I'm very much in support of DGV, a lot of people I know ride there and train a lot there. One has gone away from road cycling and is really putting everything into track cycling. He's got the ability to make a good go of it.

Still no movement on it but highly unlikely that it will be saved.

Yes minister, the excellent BBC documentary on bureaucracy suggests a standard 4 stage strategy
Stage 1: Nothing's going to happen.
Stage 2: Something may be going to happen but we should do nothing about it.
Stage 3: Maybe we should do something about it, but there's nothing we can do.
Stage 4: Maybe there was something we could've done, but it's too late now.
It would seem the veledrome is at stage 3
