Sometimes you have to press your case because you get a customer service drone who might not always be aware of what can be done.

Reading elsewhere, some people have been sold the CP0018 separately (even with a discount), so it seems you just have to find the right representative. Alternatively just buy another bike brand completely and tell them you have done so because they are being so difficult.

Although not stated in writing anywhere, a representative from Canyon USA informed me that riders in this country could reach out to Canyon’s office in Carlsbad, California, and arrange the purchase of a different stem for $300. Other countries are a different story, however.

Factor lets you customise all this stuff at order, but they sting you massively in cost:

There is a CP0018 Cockpit T-Bar (110mm stem length) for sale on Farceberk group 'Bicycle Market' and the seller is Daniel Bloom.

I think I'll be ok if I time it right. Not right now, after I've brought Covid home and she is having difficulty swallowing as her throat is that sore.
We have a Spa on the back verandah. The fencing is there waiting to go up. Once that is done and we are sitting in a nice warm spa and she has a few Kahluas on board I may make my suggestion

I am very lucky so not too concerned. It is just a bike and I already have 5.

I'm happy with the bikes I have now - well really, I'm only using the S5 regularly and it seems to never give any dramas. Hopefully don't have to spend on anything there. If anything might just try to see if I can get some chips in the paint fixed up.

If my S5 was disc and fitted bigger tyres I'd be happy too. Not anything any faster out there really.

They are an underrated starter for seeing if you enjoy it or a good value thrash about.

Value for money, the Merida Reacto 6000 is a bit cheaper with Ultegra and Reynolds wheels, and 2 piece bar and stem. Or the 105 DI2 version is sub $4k with alloy wheels.

Otherwise there is the Polygon Helios which is good value but again 1 piece bar and stem but at least aftermarket ones fit.

I have the Reacto 105 di2 and just fitted my existing deep carbon rims. You can buy a one piece carbon aero cockpit for around $1000 and the bike will still be cheaper than the Canyon Aeroad.

That's a good looking bike. If it was me I would use the cost savings over the Canyon to upgrade to a one piece bar in the correct size to complete the look. The EXS and Avian Falcon bars get a lot of hype for their value.

In the meantime I am considering the same bar I have on the Revolt. Not expensive and works well for me. 38 at the hoods and 41 in the drops.

It’s a size 56 and I’m no racer, usually sit more upright than anything and was wondering If spacers could be added or I’m stuck with the more bent forward position?

Unlikely.

If it’s like the older ones with the steerer tube cut, then that’s the height you are stuck with, unless you want to try to put a separate stem and bar arrangement in place of the usual integrated one. An angled up stem might raise the bars a bit.

Is it the right type of bike for you? You might want to consider a bike with a more relaxed geometry.

Ultimate is quite relaxed anyway, longer wheelbase - more steady handling, good comfort as well - especially if you can use the old S14 or S15 seat posts (depends which one suits the individual rider, one has more setback than the other).
