  But it lessens the number of times that you need to mow, especially in the summer months, oh and I hear that there can be a real problem with lawn grubs in the summer.

I may go to the ag place and see if there is a selective spray. Care factor about lawn isnt that high. Water is too expensive to be wasting it on that sh it.

Pea soup fog here today. Thick as still, at 0930

We've had fog here 11 days out of 14 just lately. Had one day last week where it was clear at 7am but at 9am it was pea soup. It was raining on n off this morning.

It’s been a pretty gorgeous week (weather-wise) up in my corner of the country (north coast NSW / south east QLD)
Great for riding bicycles, bushwalking, gardening - and going to the beach to watch the whales cruising up the coast.

Probably great for most outdoor activities.
Not wintery cold this week.
Slightly overcast skies but mostly sunny.
A brief shower or 2, barely enough to wet the ground.
We are told that bad weather will return next week.
That’s pretty grim. And the Olympics won’t be going on in the background to brighten up the days. :(

Just to show off some nice weather conditions here are a few pics from my rides this week :

Nice Pictures Elantra, lucky you....although I see over the next week you might be swimming up there.....looks to be a weather system coming over the from the West.

Looks like a nice week to be had on the bottom border Albury/Wodonga though, 18C tomorrow & Sunday and I believe we may crack the 20C on Wednesday......yippeee......lube those chains and start peddling :D

Warty...you should be getting the nice stuff too over in Bendigo.

Got a Motorcycle ride happening on Sunday through the Snowies (but not where the snow is apparently)

A two wheeled weekend, whichever way it goes.

Spring is springing here in Melbourne! The past couple of weeks have been typical late winter, with mild temperatures and generally stable, calm conditions, but now the volatility that characterises a Melbourne Spring is kicking in. Take the weekend just gone, Saturday was one of those mild, calm days, but Sunday was fairly windy; warm for the majority of the day before a belt of heavy thunderstorms rolled through in the afternoon. Some showers and a bit of breeze carried through to yesterday, while today has been generally mild temperature, and although no rainfall, at least in my locality, switching between sunny and heavily overcast at frequent intervals, and blowing like stink! The rest of the week is looking much the same.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Current forecast for Sunday in Melbs... Max temp. 19 deg. High probability of some rainfall, but less than 4mm, wind NW, 20-30 knots (a fair bit, Strong Wind Warning likely but not yet issued).

Forecasting in Melbourne, especially at this time of year comes with the same fine print as bike catalogues - "specification subject to change without notice".

Haha. Yeah I grew up there. 4 seasons in one day etc.
I'll check the app for Bendigo and Melbs on the day. Don't have to go. If dodgy I wont.

Brisbane has skipped spring and gone straight to mid-summer. 32°+ for the rest of the week, with Saturday (last day of winter) forecast to hit 35°.

Back home from work, and the world is a mess. Fallen trees, broken branches, smashed wheelie bins, rubbish disgorged onto roads, fences hammered, wandering dogs, a couple of SES and Powercor crews...should make for interesting NEWS viewing at 6pm.

My RING video doorbell video shows it has been an eventful day! Wave after wave after wave of viciously powerful fronts, pelting rain, blue sky, then rinse and repeat! I thought I had a fever last night, but no. The overnight temp hovered around a balmy 19°c... in the last week of winter!

Apparently the wind hit 122km/h here in the eastern 'burbs at 1.30pm. I look outside where I have just come, and it is nowt but a gentle breeze! Incredible.

Car commuting with the train is a thorough grind, and not ideal. Now that all V/Line services have resumed after a 3 month shutdown for track duplication, I'll resume bike + train commuting when things settle down properly...likely next week.

The other well-known line about Melbourne Weather is "if you don't like it, wait ten minutes!"

A post popped up this afternoon in my yacht club's Farcebook group warning of impending 30+ knot winds and requesting someone pop in to ensure members' boats stored in the yard (one of which is mine) were secured. I'd just finished work, and am pretty local, so I swung down, and arrived at the Club at exactly the same time as a 50-knot squall! That was vicious!

It was rather blustery here in the bayside 'burbs all day too, but that squall was another level!

Yeah, the wind was epic. I love the trees in our back yard but wind like that is a worry. Only small branches coming down so all good.

No way I was going for a ride in that. I would have ridden to work if still commuting but not a recreational ride. Yesterday was bad enough.

Yes, usually Brisbane and surrounds is usually mild and pleasant weather at the end of August.
So this current run of hot weather is very unusual.

I will always remember being told by a Brisbane-born friend that he was born on “the coldest day of that year” - August 24, 1960.

September in Brisbane is rarely cold, unless it is raining all day !
As it was when I got hypothermia during an 100 km ride in Boonah (Qld) almost 2 years ago.

With the big tree at the front that has to be removed (and approved to go) that kind of wind like yesterday evening was worrying.

More gusty than I’d like.

We ended up removing a big gum out the front of our house. We really did plant it too close to the house and it got diseased. That one would have been a real worry. At least the ones out the back are a fair distance from our house.
