Hey mate, yeah I was originally going to do that until I saw the 1050 launch unexpectedly. This 1030 has had a good life. I think I want a new one!
Another advantage of the 1050 is the screen. By all reports, it is significantly better than the 1030s. That is the reason I will update later in the year, hopefully,

Any Garmin Edge 1050 owners out there? I’m still deciding between a 1040 Solar and 1050 to replace my aging 1030 which has to be charged every 8-10 hours. I usually only ride 1.5-2 hrs so the estimated 20 hours of battery from the 1050 probably wouldn’t worry me. Just after any feedback on battery life and any issues I should be concerned about?? I’ve been looking for stock and it fluctuates between backorder of 1-3 to 3-5 weeks on the Garmin site. I’ve seen it on a few of the local sites but seems to be on backorder there as well.
A lot of comment here https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitnes ... /edge-1050, personally I am sticking with my (now) 2 year old 1040 (non-solar), I can get 80-90 hours out of its battery, and that is important for me, (day time screen very visible with 0% backlight, that's not possible with 1050), and from 2 years of comment on the 1040 forum I am happy to have given solar a miss as it does not seem to make much difference to battery for most users, certainly not worth the extra $$$.
