A bit of nostalgia. My descent from one of the world's best known cols.

Western Europe was in the grip of a major heatwave. It was about mid-30s every day for a few weeks, and the temperature at Col du Galibier was an astonishing 25 deg C, pretty unusual given its elevation of 2642m. The "usual" temperature rules (1 deg C temperature drop per 100m climbed) still applied, i.e. the valley temperatures (e.g. at Valloire) were in the mid-30s.

Actually, this one's even better, the descent on this side is nothing short of spectacular:

I can't get the video to embed properly with a preview, I tried various formats but none of them work.
That’s crazy - hardly ever see those high temps at top of Galibier - even last year when it was stinking hot down in the valleys it was cool at the top.

It was high 30C and low 40C temps last year. At the top of Col du Telegraphe it was 41°C, same in Huez village. I remember going out walking at 6pm and immediately ran back to get the sunscreen because I was burning.
Yes, unfortunately, the Alps are warming up. :( On the same trip where I made those 2 videos, I rode up to Col du Sabot (2115m, same as Tourmalet) on another day, and it was 37 deg at the top! I was astonished. It was a surreal experience, seeing my Garmin showing 37 deg, and seeing a large snow patch still partly covering the road right at the col itself.

Disgraceful, how dare he attack an innocent journalist like that. Journo should have cut his microphone off, as they do USA style when the guest brings forward uncomfortable truths.

Good on him for shutting down the journo. 8)

Edit, more details on the "journo":
He's not a journalist. He's a "reporter" for the most populist right wing radio in the city (Radio X). That radio is a nest of anti-cyclist pro-car climate-change-denying racist misogynist antivax pro-Trump individuals.

They are well-known for encouraging carbrains to voluntarily endanger the life of cyclists.
I'm sure a few of our cyclists here will jump immediately to defend this reporter.

Zero friction. Worth a look just to understand the level of testing and data he has. ;)

Delightful short video with Margaret and her partner exploring the NRRT in April this year.

At times it’s bucketing down rain and at other times the sun is shining.

Great soundtrack !
