All good on the bb front.
It was in the small ring as I always leave my bikes. Shifted up into the big ring as normal. Wouldn't go back into the small ring though. The shift lever just seemed like it wouldn't engage. Full range of movement with no click and no resistance. It has done that once previously but started shifting again after briefly refusing to.
Anyway got home and after a shower had a look with my glasses on. The cable was intact with no fraying. The spings and guts of the shifter were a bit of a mess with what looked like mud. I had given it a spray with silicone lube prior to putting my glasses on and it was now a congealed mess of dirt and silicone spray.
Gave it a squirt with the garden hose on the jet setting and it is clean again and shifting the front rings up and down nicely.
Have put it up on the rack to dry. I plan to give it another squirt with silicone spray tomorrow when dry. Does that sound like the right stuff to spray it with?
I also have white lithium grease in a spray can, and motorex 2000 in a spray can. I figure both of them are going to collect dust worse than silicone spray though? Given it is a gravel bike there is going to be dust.
