WTB SS/fixie wheelset
Postby Undertrog6 » Mon Apr 15, 2024 11:45 am
Hi there,
Made an account because i've been scratching my head as to how I should go about buying some new wheels. I've ridden since I was a kid but have never had to buy new wheels. I've got a budget of about 3-400 for both front and back. I've been looking around facebook market place but can't seem to find anything. Anyone got anywhere good?
I ride a chapelli SS with v brakes.
Ideally looking for a flip flop hub rear.
Anything would be appreciated!

This: https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/quakers ... 1323806108
1. Buy it and throw away the parts you don't want/need.
2. See if the seller will sell you the Miche wheels (they can put the original ones on to sell the bike, $200 for the Miche wheels is a good price anyway.)
3. Wondering if @familyguy has a spare fixed gear wheelset lying around?

Second hand can get you a better deal.
Another option is go to a bike shop and ask them about this - they could supply a generic front wheel and then build the rear with a flipflop hub. I think your budget is fair if you don't need to go too upmarket. In fact, some of affordable rims and hubs are brightly coloured (this adds weight... not good, but also bling which is good) so may be able to get colours to match.

I possibly have a set, but will need to wait until Monday to confirm I do in fact still have them. They may have been sold, unsure!

Got flip flop high flange vgc in Perth if that works around 400, setup with quick release. They were my late father's go to set, and he built them, there solid. Got photos if you give me email. Long time no postings here and lost PhotobucketUndertrog6 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 11:45 amHi there,

Are you still looking as I've got a new set of Novatec fixie hubs, 32/32, with a flip flop rear, DT Swiss Comp spokes and Kinlin Rims, all black for $350.
I'm located at Rouse Hill.
Cheers,
Mick
