Need to replace the old Jamis

Postby jim47 » Tue Oct 31, 2023 3:14 pm

Had my Jamis since 2007, great bike! The rear sub frame finally gave away, I have tried to weld it up before but it didn't last long...

Any good suggestions for a replacement? I want to go with 27.5" wheels and an alloy frame.
I'm currently looking at the Bird Aether 7 and Canyon Spectral 27 AL

Budget?
Why 27.5?
What sort of riding do you do/want to do?

I have a Spectral 125 AL6 and it's a great bike, though I don't have the history to compare it to anything. It's long, slack, lazy uphill, but it does motor downhill. Looking at your Jamis it would be quite a different experience.

Factor in about $200 shipping from Canyon also... (and the DIY setup you'll need to do)

Under 4k delivered to the door.

The Jamis is 26" I can go fast enough on that for the type of riding I'm doing and it's only thrown me over the bars a couple of times. The reading I've done on 27.5 v 29, the 27.5 just seems like it will suit me better for the type of riding I'm doing and the experience I want.

I'm mostly doing trials, but if I want I can fairly easy find the limits of the Jamis on the tracks I'm riding on.
