A dualie? With a motor maybe? The specialized levo dualies have a pm.....
I don't think so.

The rest of the ride looked like a proper training ride as well, not the sort of stuff you'd normally e-bike your way through.

Though I did take out one of his steeper ones a few months back I don't actually think it's targetted. Just that I happen to hold all of the uphill KOMs around my suburb so am bound to lose a few at some stage.

I did ignore a friend request from him a while back. Nothing personal - just didn't know him and this confirms giving someone clearly faster than you a list of 400 KOMs to take is probably not good for the soul.

Ah, the internet. Don't ever change.

Got the 'Uh-Oh' message this morning on a couple of my virtual segments.

Totally legit! 511W for 48km as well.

Fortunately I don't care about anything online. You'd think Strava would have some sort of mechanism to weed out that rubbish though.

Ran into a good one today on Fulgaz - two segments, one a climb at 6.2%, the second at 9.1%.

KOM on the first one, second on the second one. The guy who beat me on the second one went 6km/hr faster up the 9.1% climb than he did up the 6.2% climb. With less power (and an even 100W less than me).

Genius. Gets up the first one and thinks 'I'm too heavy for this' and drops about 40kg.

Scoping the segments for the Mary Valley Alleycat this weekend and came across a new one - a 700m odd, 11.9% average gradient gravel climb where all of the fastest times are held by horses.

https://www.strava.com/segments/999773

Seems a bit rich to upload the time your horse achieves as a bicycle ride. I'm impressed by the VAM these horses manage though - 1861!

And no, Strava doesn't seem to have a category for 'horseriding'. Which is fair.

The horse is doing all the work so the account and the KOM should belong to the horse.

Well to be fair, two out of three accounts mention the name of the horse!

From 'what I learned today' apparently horses can have a VO2Max of 160-170. So about twice the top cyclists.

Yep. Saw that, it's hilarious!

How far up your own proverbial do you have to be to flag Tadej Pogacar for taking your KOM?

Did I see you were having your own little issues with flagged rides or KOMs? How did that go...

Well after my last experience with the petulant manchild who flagged a bunch of my rides after I took one of his KOMs, I was expecting it to go poorly.

It went the complete opposite. It was a very fast mountain biker who I've taken something like 20 KOMs off in Toohey Forest (not deliberate, he just held them all). He posted 'you must be on an e-bike?' in the comments and when I said it was just that a gravel bike was faster on those segments he turned out to be a thoroughly decent guy and now wants to go for a ride some time. He was at one stage close to 1000 KOMs and is now dealing with some health issues and slowly watching them trickle away.

This is the downside of chasing KOMs, they were all someone else's KOMs at some point! Also I can definitely see the same thing happening to me at some stage given I'm up to 457 now. Currently debating whether to follow him on Strava - because it is my self imposed rule not to take any follower's KOMs (unless they start it). Plus I'm always wary of giving someone who is faster than me a list of 457 KOMs they can take.

That's an odd way of looking at things. :? I don't have any problem with doing that to any of my friends and they do the same. It's all about pushing each other to perform better and by taking their segments, you can bag the tripe out of them also.

I just feel bad because most people I know have a handful of segments, and I have 460. Seems a bit rough!

Unfortunately accidentally took another one off the same dude today. Genuinely slowed down to make it a tie but live timing was off so took it by a second. Whoops.

So do I, that's sort of the problem.

'Taking someone's only KOM' is one thing. Taking it by 10km/hr+ is another.

Nope, don't care if it's by 1mm or 100mtrs. Gotta be ruthless in sport even with mates, I give no quarter.

Come around my area then - it's all NRS riders or Mr Stoker. ;)

Unfortunately there aren't any real climbs here, it's all dead flat. I used to have a few top 10s on very competitive segments among those people, but that kind of thing is no good anymore - body doesn't want to cooperate anymore. Being able to ride at all is enough.

Haha, I've only ridden 40klms this year but even when riding with some riders that were in Teams, I could push them to their limits, even when only 30% fit. :)

I don't and never have seen the point of hill climbs when you can get the same type of workout with training smart with starts and short TT's.

Nothing like riding those HC climbs of 1000m+ elevation gain (and riding up over 2000m+) and doing them day after day, the gains you get out of it are great ;)

And they are great for us lighter folk.

I'm sort of surprised I didn't get flagged for this one a couple of weeks back.

Image

It's a brutal little 10-15% climb followed by a sharp descent. I overestimated how much I needed to throw at the 'climb' part and took the KOM up by 7 seconds, and then hit the descent going way too fast and topped out at 70km/hr+ down a back street.

You know it's bad when you're looking at it thinking 'that looks driven' and you did it.

I think that's what saved me. Though I was waiting on a HRM warranty replacement that week so I didn't have that as backup.

I also had to state my weight in my Strava profile because people kept looking at the measured power, not putting two and two together and flagging it.

Hmm, 452w for 1 minute 13 seconds, that’s possible. I used to do 9x1min intervals at around that power.

I wouldn’t consider that worthy of flagging.
