Advice for a newbie
Postby sammylee » Mon Sep 11, 2023 8:47 am
Looking for some brand advice on a bike for myself. I recently moved to the Victorian High Country and would like to get out on some of the cruisey trails, as well as be able to head to some of the nearby towns. Looking to spend up to around $3,000. Suggestions on a decent, entry level emtb would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

$3000 will buy you a very good hardtail MTB, a decent entry level dual suspension MTB, or a rather basic e-MTB.
You'd get an electric hardtail with a coil sprung fork, not air sprung, but for cruisey trails (greens and easier blues) that'll still work fine. And perfect for smoother gravel riding like fire roads.
Merida 29er, $3k, 1x9, coil fork 100mm travel - https://www.99bikes.com.au/merida21-ebi ... anthracite
Avanti Montari-E (rrp $3k)

Stuff like that should be okay as long as you're not super heavy yourself, and you're not riding huge jumps and drops and smashing rock gardens at high speed.
99 Bikes are having a test ride weekend for ebikes if you can make it to Melbourne in mid November to get a feel for some options: https://www.99bikes.com.au/electric-bike-expo
When you are driving your car, you are not stuck IN traffic - you ARE the traffic!!!
