Picked up a covid bike recently from a neighbour, that was rarely used. Rather low end components, tektro 316 dual pivots with "Power Tools" levers and abysmal braking performance. Checked the levers and the barrel end of the cable is in the caliper position, cable inners lubed and move freely, swapped pads from the last rim brake bike and it's still sh!te.
Reach on the pads is around 57mm where the rim sits. As it is, the tektro's pads sit about middle of the slot though. Have the opportunity to buy some obsolete 650s which I'd hope would improve matters, reach should be ok, but see they're rated for 28mm tyres. Has anyone had experience running the larger tyre with them? If it's just the quick release won't function correctly and deflating the tyre is required, I could live with that till the tyres wear out.
BR-R650 + 32mm?
