3T Boost Gravel

Postby rickrubin » Sat Mar 26, 2022 12:28 pm

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the 3T Boost (e-gravel) bike. I'm really interested in getting one but I don't couldn't find much on the company's presence in Aus. They can ship it to me here, no dramas with that but I'm just wondering what the servicing, parts etc would look like. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

If anything it’s gone up recently, but can’t quite see the value for something that’s going to cost over $14k landed.

What is so special about it ?

Anything with a reputable brand name and half-decent kit on it is about that price at the moment. They're the SUVs of bicycles. Don't cost that much extra to produce, but the margins they can charge are much higher because people will pay it.

Yeah, understand the sup[ply/demand bit.

My concern would be imp[ort5ing something at that value that doesn't have a local distributor to handle any issues.

Meh, if you can afford it, go for it !!

Yes - that's exactly my concern. Especially with the e-motor and related parts... if something goes wrong, where do you go for support. That's why I was keen to find out if anyone has had any experience in this sort of thing.

Nope, that’s 3T’s inflated pricing.

I can buy an Orbea Gain M20 Gravel e-bike from my local store for less than $10k. It uses the Mahle Ebikemotion drive system as the Exploro.

Jeez, you can get a new BMW F850GS for not much more than that.

Does anyone else ever get the impression we're being taken advantage of?

No. Never.

Manufacturers never lie about weight, drag, stiffness or improvements, and they don’t rip us off at all …
