Any lightweight flat bar ebike?

Postby webmal » Tue Feb 22, 2022 7:11 pm

I'm looking to buy a lightweight flat bar ebike. Something like a LeMond Prolog.

My budget is $5k, is there anything comparable in Australia?

Lightweight E-bike is an oxymoron....
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

Merida do a eSpeeder which is in your budget and kind of light weight (about 15kg).

Yes, but not on that budget.

No idea of the weight but my pick out of the bunch from that site would be the Orbea Vibe H10 EQ

A bit over the 6K mark but it's got all the goodies I'd require in a bike.

The lighter the ebike the higher price...
My nephew paid $11,000 for a 13kg Specialized road bike. Add the extra battery for more distance and you add to the weight.

Not sure how you go finding a cheap light ebike...
OI onya bike!!!

May I ask, what is your definition of "lightweight"?

And why do you want a lightweight model vs a standard model?

Once you're riding, the motor will take care of even the heaviest bike. So unless you're lifting it on and off a bike carrier, or carrying it up stairs to an apartment etc, I wouldn't be too worried about overall weight, if you're only riding it and not man-handling it regularly.

From Googling, I don't think these brands are sold locally. But does anyone have experience with purchasing Vanmoof or Cowboy in Australia?
