Help with hiring a recumbent bike

Postby BelindaM » Thu Feb 17, 2022 9:45 am

Hi everyone.

I am in my late 40 & so unfit, I'm thinking of a recumbent trike. But with a new trike being a large investment, I was hoping to rent or hire one for a couple of weeks to gauge whether it's suitable for my needs.

Could anyone advise me as to where I could possibly rent a trike for a couple of weeks? I do live in Tasmania so this could be tricky. Fingers Crossed.

Thanks so much to anyone who might be able to help out.

I hate to be a wet blanket but I don't hold a lot of hope for your quest. I don't know of any dealers offering trike hire, nor any specific trike hire firms. Occasionally I've heard of a dealer offering hire/purchase type arrangement.

Facebook, gumtree, etc are probably the best bet to pick up a cheap trike to try, the danger is picking something particularly horrible that puts you off! To be fair though, most of the brand name trikes will be fine, ie Greenspeed, Performer, ICE, Terra Trike, Cattrike, HP Velotechnik.

If you can travel, a visit to Trisled in Morwell Vic would let you try a variety of trikes.

I deal in recumbents, but am in Queensland so not a lot of help...
