Di2 Upgrade Kits

Postby rudiandella » Sun May 30, 2021 5:39 pm

Hello,

This is my first post...

Why is it so difficult to buy an Ultegra upgrade kit from Shimano? I've tried locally, Europe, USA and come with either NO STOCK or SHIIPING NOT AVAIALBLE TO YOUR COUNTRY.

Any suggestion? I've got a Trek Emonda with R8000 throughout and I just need the Di2 bits to break free from mechanical shifting and save my slightly arthritic hands.

Thankyou

Parts availability has been pretty well up the creek globally for the past 15 or so months.

Additionally, several large brands restrict sales to within designated regions, so it's basically impossible to buy stuff from outside one's (generally continentally defined) distribution region, wherever they are in the world.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

If you dont need disc brake stuff bikebug seem to have all the parts (depending)

jsut remove the brake caliper, cassette and cranks, they have all the rest, or enough to build anyway.

Another “victim” of covid.

Basically all manufacturing shut down for a period, and when it opened back up, most industries are facing shortages of one component or another.

Then the large buyers get priority as it’s a guarantee sale of tens of thousands of units.

So Shimano might have 95% percent of the groupset ready, but can’t source one component to finish the last piece.

Then Trek has ordered 200,000 groupsets, and the world tour teams are prioritised before customers.

And as mentioned, a lot of stuff is now geoblocked as well.
