I’d be worried at how many would sell if the dura ace R6 was proved similarly to the top of the range S5. The R’s just don’t have the same sex appeal of an S and if you’re dropping $15k on a bike you want to make sure that every time you look at it you get aroused.
See I'm the opposite, I think the R5 is way sexier than the S5...
Aslo I dunno why they think its an R6...the R5 is due a replacement model and all the other top end bikes from them have the internal cabling (cal5, S5, Asp5) SO it seems reasonable to expect an updated R5 in the next few months...

Mine:

My one is a bit more advanced that Mr Matthew's bike - I have E-Tap AXS. I have to get one of those flat stems though.

My old Canyon is actually a very, very exotic bike but unless you knew what you were looking at, you would probably not notice it:

https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-MRJ ... tQb-X5.jpg
https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-8qN ... 9th-X5.jpg (two of them together, that never happens!)
https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-cHh ... z4d-X5.jpg (with the lower spec Mavic bikes)

When you look more closely at it you do see how nicely they have done it. It's a very neat and clean looking bike. And with wireless shifting that makes it look even cleaner. When you lift it - that's when you realise what makes it very special. 8)

An interesting story but one that I think may be driven by the thought of making money from the less fortunate in the end. :?:

Ancient bicycle rider logging in here - my current bike is an alloy 2008 Avanti Giro that was entry level new and is entry level and 13 years old now.

Funny how these old bikes get all 'Ship of Theseus'. In that everything has been replaced but it's still the same bike. I'm running original frameset, bars, shifters and seatpost. A mate has a titanium bike that's literally just the original seatpost (the frame was a warranty replacement).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus

The Avanti is currently so disreputable that I swear people get offended when I pass them. Plus it weighs around 9.5kg.

The new bike is sitting in pieces in the garage. I'm currently gradually introducing the concept of a new bike to my wife so that I can build it without getting into trouble. A series of minor mechanical issues with the Avanti has helped, even though most of those have been caused by my own incompetence.

Image

It's an Orange Sherbert Bowman Palace 3 build.
- Full Ultegra mechanical.
- Deda Superzero bars and stem.
- 45mm Light Bicycle carbon wheels.
- Hope carbon seatpost.

I hope to ride it for a similar period of time and then replace it with something titanium when I'm old enough to go a bit slower.

How does the Bowman ride?
I expect it is fairly flex free and stiff.
Too harsh over longer rides or good?
Interested to hear your opinion as it develops with more ks on the bike.

Looks great 8)

That yellow/orange is a nice colour. Does yours have the pattern on the top of the DT, or is it the plain version? I've seen both, but don't know if it's an option or standard.

I really like the look of the Wilier Filante SLR but I would have to win the lotto before I would buy one.

Somewhat more realistically, I would like a bike for the trainer / crits. Current think is to buy a cheap Merida Scultura 100 size 52 and slam the stem, which would give me almost the same position as my Tarmac. Chuck a Sensah Empire 11sp rim brake groupset and then watch FB marketplace for a cheap set of carbon tubs. It would be a budget Allez Sprint. Of course, it's unlikely to get past the Finance committee as they strongly believe in a 1 bike policy.

Do Hope even make a 1000 mm seatpost like that pic*?
Shame Hope stopped making road stems to match, they are good bits of kit!
(*was having a good day until I saw that pic and it made me very uncomfortable - now keep wondering what sort of species of frog can ride in such a position)

They all have the pattern though you may be able to order one without it.

I hope to assemble it all for my 40th next month - so will report back on how it rides then. I suspect the answer will be ‘a lot better than a 13yo Avanti’. Or hope so at least! Carbon bars and stem should tune out the worst of the road noise.

Yes - all promo pictures of bikes tend to show the stem slammed and the seat at the level of the ceiling!

Cervelo R5 Lamborghini:

https://www.cervelo.com/en/lamborghini-r5

Nah... Colour scheme of the Essenza SCV12, but on a fairly regular looking R5? Doesn't really match the SCV12. Maybe if it was on the S5...

Only 63 of them. The price... Forget it. ;)

Or maybe one of these for the steel bike fans:

https://officinabattaglin.com/products/ ... -plus-evo/

The retro-grouches will be outraged by that! And disc brakes too.. Even more outrage. But the colour scheme is stunning! Starts at 5000 Euros.

Not really my cup of tea to be honest. And I really dislike Pinarello fork design.

€5k is just the frame btw.
I have a more traditional Marosticana from them. Lovely to ride and look at. Gets more comments than all my other rigs put together.

Currently got a new steel frame on order for another Italian officina. Disc brakes but mechanical shifting. 7 month lead time, so obviously plenty of people still spending big dollars.

I like the colour and external finish, but that's about all.

So I had been eyeing off a few custom bikes and was due to visit Melbourne in a few weeks and I was hoping to visit a couple of factories (clearly not happening now).

Anyway, I had a rough budget in my head about what that might cost me, but based on this (https://www.baumcycles.com/rapha-special/) I might have been a bit underdone. $30k for a custom bike is certainly getting well up there. Still, a really nice looking bike.

That Giant in the other topic at $12K is a bargain (https://www.giant-bicycles.com/au/tcr-a ... a-ace-2022)

$22,200 and they couldn't even get the cables hidden away! :o

https://www.giant-bicycles.com/au/prope ... -sl-disc-0

I have to say the Giant frames look very, very costly. :o

I think I'd still be after one of these if I didn't already have a great disc brake bike:

https://www.heroin-bikes.com/le-modele-heroin/

I was at an event where there was at least 10 or 20 of them there on display. Then through the next 7 days you could ask the manufacturer and they'd give you one for the day. If you posted a photo of yourself with the bike and they chose the photo, that bike was yours to keep.

My custom Llewellyn Discus Colossus will cost me close to $11 when all done and that’s a decent spec without going crazy. Certainly waaaay better than I can outperform. About 1/2 the cost is in the F&F, and I think that is underpriced.

Extreme light hill climb bikes... The guy warming up has gone all out to get 5.8kg. Not much lighter than what I have in my signature, except my brakes actually work and I have a full complement of gears. No bar tape in those wet conditions looks a bit mad!

The one at 9:27 is not bad in weight for the components used, Fulcrum Racing Zero and 6.0kg. The Jagwire cable housings are a sure fire easy way to save weight as well when you've already exhausted other avenues. The drops are gone, cut off completely.

I've always wanted a titanium bike and I'm seriously thinking of buying one of these: https://www.bossibicycles.com/collectio ... 8714972254

Looks like a nice bike to me, anyone else had experience with Bossi and this model?
