Spokes for Touring Wheels

What are the best spokes for touring wheels. The rims I have are 650b Velogear Voyager and I will be running tyres up to 47mm. I want the wheels to be pretty well bomb proof. Thanks

I prefer a Sapim spoke when I can get my hands on them, and in your application would be thinking a CX-Ray would be a decent choice.

I last used these on a 26" wheelset which was built up for bike-packing.

It’s more a function of how many spokes vs what type. I run DT Aero Comp spokes on my commuter, 36 spokes front and rear. Absolutely bombproof.

If you don’t want flat bladed spokes, I think that DT Alpine III spokes are about as robust as you can get.

On my Vivente Patagonia with 700C 545 DT Swiss rims, I have the DT Champion 36H, silver, cross three pattern, 14G (2.0mm) at the front

Rear Spokes
DT Alpine III triple butted, 36, silver, cross three pattern, 13/15/14G (2.34/1.8/2.0mm) at the rear

I'm not a light weight and have never broken any but got a couple of spares if needed.

Ive decided to go with DT Swiss Alpine III
Ive used the DT Swiss spoke calculator and the recommendations it gave me don't match with the available spoke sizes.
I assume I go up the next available size?

The Alpine were my first choice but turned out unsuitable for Rohloff.
I went with 36 Sapim CX-Rays (front and rear) instead and have had a great run with no breakages so no regrets.
At the time, the local Aussie prices were eye watering, but ze Germans by comparison wanted chump change.
I think you'll have a great run with the Alpines.
