replacing 1 1/8 straight fork with tapered.

Hey All.
The above frame needs a fork. It's a 2014 Marin Cortina Alloy CX frame. Only difference to above i can see is rear disc caliper mount is inside frame on mine. Bloke stripped it for parts for a gravel build, essentially unridden. I bought the frame and headset only, it has a 42 mm head tube.
CaneCreek says IS 42 30 if using a fork with press on race (30mm).
I assume i need a 44mm head tube to fit an external Hope lower bearing and use a tapered fork.
Looking for a fork so i can use thru-axle and clear a 43mm Gravelking tyre. The frame takes a 43mm at rear easily.
I realise the external would affect angles by a bees appendage.
Anyone else done something similar?

I just did this but I had a 44mm head tube and used the hope external bearing.

Managed to pick up some Kenesis forks very cheap, just be aware the lower bearing will need a 36deg inner bevel for these forks which the hope isnt. Was fun finding a compatible bearing.
