Wrote to Main Roads re their choice of detour on Freeway PSP

Their detour is 2km longer, most of in on busy Bibra Drive, through 3 busy roundabouts (two requiring 270 turns) and the response was
In terms of the rail crossing for the PSP detour, we did consider the crossing south of Annois Road in Bibra Lake, however stakeholders consulted including ARC Infrastructure advised MRIA to utilise the crossing further to the west as the safer option.
Which stakeholders would of been consulted?

Time for nasty letter to MRA, WestCycle anybody else?

Only 2km? WHen they did the M2 upgrade here in Sydney, the detour was around twice the length of the original route (i.e. they turned a 10km ride into a 20km ride)

A cycling detour will be required when we commence works at southern end of project site. The proposed route is a significant detour that will be in place for around 9 months and has been discussed with Main Roads, WestCycle and DoT as the safest solution.
Specifically it appears to be WestCycle's Transport and Safety Manager, someone with a sport science and public health education (and no apparent infrastructure related qualifications), that is providing the "cyclist" approval for the detours.
