That's interesting, my experience has been the exact opposite - I went from running contis exclusively for years and years (gp4000s, 4seasons, gatorskins) to running veloflex masters (same as a corsa but with a gumwall) and I've literally had 2 flats in 2 years. I think I completely wore a set out without a single flat, it was amazing.

Wide rims, 80psi, fast, lovely rubber.

Not the same tyres then :)

I ran Corsa's every day last summer and they're super fast, but after a month I was getting 2-3 punctures A DAY (60km). I'm not joking.

if the tyres are worn, flats are not a sign of a bad tyre. I get tons of flats when my rubber is thinning. Zero the rest of the time.

A faster tyre will have less rubber and wear quicker so more likely to puncture for both reasons. There is no magic pudding.

same vendor specification, same vendor description, same everything except the corsa has a black coating on the side wall and is thus slightly heavier:

http://www.veloflex.it/products/corsa23.asp?lang=en" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

can i assume you were running them on narrow rims at high pressure (100psi+)?

No, 26mm Flo30 at 90/95psi

There was some wear on the tyres, but not excessive. Just did the calcs, exactly 2200km's on them.
They were fine for the first month or so then suddenly it was puncture town.

Anyway, learning experience - leave racing tyres for the race :)

I have not heard anyone selling race tyres claiming more than 2000kms on them. You might have pushed them too far? I wouldn't hesitate to give them a go based on your report Rex.

I never experienced punctures with my Veloflex's. What pressures where you running them at Rex? My problem was the tread being glued not vulcanized. An issue if you like dirt roads like me. There also undersized. The 25mm is a 23mm on a Mavic Open Pro.

Many reviewers report frequent punctures so perhaps you were just lucky?

"Bought these on the basis of grip and reasonable durability. 500 km in: 3 punctures and tyre becoming chopped up. Not as durable as Maxxis Detonator."

"Fast? Probably
Comfortable? Yes
Durable? No. After 1,360.1km, I''ve given up on this tyre. 5 flats in this time compared to only 2 flats in 4500km on my Conti GP4000S. Cuts all over my tyre. After the first couple rides, there were cuts so deep that I could see the exposed tube below."

"I have lost count of the number of punctures I've had with these tyres. I was hoping for the price that I would get a durable product that would last but I feel disappointed.
Apparently these tyres should only be used for best racing conditions (i.e summer racing) however the write up says its an all round tyre.
So if you are a daily commuter like me go for something else with better puncture protection."

Mine were clinchers, 90psi front/95rear
I didn't get large cuts, but lots of tiny splinters going straight through.

2000km's sounds like good mileage from a race tyre, but looking at them they definitely looked like they had more life in them.

I replaced them with Michelin Pro4 Endurance and did 5,100km's and might have had a few more weeks.
But to say they were slow is an understatement :)

Where the (AT)#$%$# are you riding?

ps - I'm going to keep c r c on the black ban list until the can fix their stupid website data. Go look at the tubulars. Images are wrong on one of the tuffos, most of the drop down lists provide options like "700C wire bead" . Idiots - my money's going elsewhere.

My guess is that it will continue for sometime.

Reason is that Wiggle have moved to a new location in the UK so the warehouse clearance is actually to clear out stock on the old warehouse to save transporting to the new location. This will explain why popular items will disappear fast and there will be plenty of obscure gear and gear in odd sizes.

Should've done the order last night, just checked and Rubino Pro's back up to $26 and Castelli bibs back up to $132. Ah well, didn't really need them anyway so saved me some $$'s :)

Sorry to lay the boot in but...

Now the castelli aero race 5.0 jersey is 45% off most sizes and all the colours. Perfect timing for me because I just bought the matching aero race bibs last week at 45% off
