Faded at the end, reportedly due to heat. Pacing graph from Alex's mate Xavier Disley

Interestingly Xavier estimates that the high air pressure in London cost Wiggins 490m
Definitely the most consistent lap by lap out of those in recent times.

It certainly was. I really would like to see Tony Martin have a go now.

I wondered while i was watching the highlights if it was legal to have 3d printed bars since as far as i knew the rule was it had to be a production bike.

That's exactly what all the Wiggins/Team Sky fanboys said on Twitter.

Might be worth reading this:

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/dowsett ... our-record

But an interesting quote from Dowsett
“Firstly, my coach is Mark Walker and there’s been some confusion around this because the comments came from Steve Collins. Steve was at a lot of training sessions with me doing timekeeping and he gave up a lot to help me and it’s something he is very, probably more emotionally involved in than me. He said some choice words which I personally disagreed with.”

Dowsett clarified his position by backing the sponsors around him for the support they provided during his build-up and final assault on the Hour Record before praising British Cycling.

“My Canyon was a very good bike and Brad’s bike looked like an extremely good bike. If he’s on the start line then it's legal, simple as that, and as for the British Cycling comment: we never asked. I had a fantastic team with Movistar, Canyon, Endura, more than enough support. British Cycling helped us on the day and I never asked the GB team or British Cycling for help in my build-up as I didn’t feel I needed it. The GB team did move one of their training sessions for me and they helped with the logistics as well, and for that I’m really grateful. If I had asked for more help I’m sure they would have been quite hands on for me.”

Who is trying for the record next? It seems everyone who has a crack gets it.

Well apart from Bobridge and Dekker who both failed to set a new target.

Next record will need to be done at altitude.

I don't see why. Riding at altitude has been synonymous with hour record attempts for several generations.

e.g. Merckx's hour record was set in Mexico City at ~2200m.

I don't understand why none of the current crop of record attempts has been at altitude, sure there's some hefty costs involved and for Wiggins it was a useful PR thing to have the attempt in the UK but if you really want to go as far as possible it's the only way to go.

Possibly because of time constraints... Wiggo's attempt made him a lot of money for sure, not something he could of done on Mexico.
For the others I don't think it is a matter of just flying in to 2000-3000 meters and jumping on the bike a couple of days latter and going for it. You lose a huge amount of sustainable power at altitude ... How long do you take to acclimatize?, how many "pre" trips do you have to make?, how do you pay for all the necessary staff / officials to go to the few places that have suitable high altitude velodromes when they are all sitting there waiting in Europe where everyone capable of breaking a record is based... Etc etc.
I would say the Wiggo now retired is the perfect man to go to altitude and give it another go... Now not racing on the road at pro tour like Tony and Fabby.
Lots of reasons

Yes, it's mainly logistical, time for acclimatisation and the amount of training on the specific track. Nevertheless, even with a modest amount of planning and time on site, the benefit is substantial even without perfect preparation.

And consider Wiggins sold out the London stadium on 10 minutes and that alone was nearly quarter of a million dollars revenue. That ain't gunna happen in Mexico.
