how much to ship a two wheel recumbent Perth to Melbourne
Postby Bargo » Thu Feb 19, 2015 3:58 pm
Does anyone know how much it might cost to ship a two wheel recumbent (weight 15kg) from Perth to Melbourne, and can anyone recommend who to use?

I recently shipped a Baccehetta Giro 20 ATT to New Zealand and for the initial quote I used the measurements for a Qantas box and a weight of 15 kg. As it turned out I had to use two boxes (one from the LBS and one from Officeworks for the seat) but the actual price was on par with the quote using the Qantas box as the volume which is the basis of the cost was about the same.
I also got a quote on sending the bike to Sydney IIRC and it was around $90. I use http://interparcel.com.au" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to get a good deal. On the shipping to NZ I went with UPS via Interparcel and they where close to $200 cheaper than anyone else and pick up was within two hours of placing the shipping order. Delivery was three working days.

You can consider Greyhound.
My Bacchetta Giro came from Sydney in 2 boxes on a Greyhound bus. Depot to Depot although they do deliveries.

Bit hard given Greyhound do not come to Perth unless they use another bus company to run the route.zebee wrote:You can consider Greyhound.

I know that WA Freightlines come as far as Adelaide. They might have some agreement to go to Melbourne. They're usually pretty good.

Search the forum for MarkyD and see who he used to ship his Rotovello from Sydney to Perth.

..... I was Sponsored by GMK Logistics, Smeaton Grange NSW, they have a Branch in Glassford Rd., Kewdale....which is where my Rotovelo was delivered.
I'm happy to commend their services.
