Reminds me of 80's gym equipment I'd seen at my Dad's work gym, in the era when Lorry Potter (sp?) was doing well.

Be tough going uphill then the added bonus of front wheel drive wheel slippage due to your weight so far back.

This one was built last year and is the latest build around here.


Both together cost less than that abomination.

I thought the idea of a 'bent was to get low for aero to assists with speed. A direct drive 20" wheel seems to rule any sort of speed out.

I'd say "This tricycle is easy to fold for storage" is the most important feature .

Are these things coming back into fashion again I'm suddenly seeing more and more of them being used again by a whole range of ages now.

There is a thread over at Recumbent Riders International on riding what look like trikes very similar in design to the one posted in the opening post.

From memory a review of that recumbent shaped object gave a good reason for the low gearing, apparently the rear steering is "entertaining" at speed, they tried it down a hill
