Lack of state government support and funding (ie not even giving Phil Bates an answer either way) has forced Phil to pull the pin for 2014. Channel 9 needed confirmation and were getting nervous so there was no other option at this late stage.
Road racing in NSW is a shambles, sport in general seems to be suffering - thats the impression I'm getting from speaking with other commissaires and the news from Phil.

There's plenty of funding from the state government for V8 motor racing, however.

CA have no money either. Cyclign NSW had to prop up CA as did most other states with Cycling NSW putting in the majority of money.

Thanks for letting us know KGB. Massive shame as the Cronulla /Wollongong GP was really the finest weekend of racing on the NSW calendar. Lots of people will be extremely disappointed.

Yeah, its a shame. I live at cronulla so always try to roll down on the bmx or something and see some old faces and watch the racing.
Hopefully it will be back in 2015.
